My series 90 will only Run if i holding the Starter but ton

I would start by checking the centrifugal switch on the motor.

When you push the start button, the motor starts turning, then the centrifugal switch on the motor clicks in and keeps the motor running until the timer or the door switch cuts power to it. If the centrifugal switch isn't working, the motor won't stay running.

Good luck

Hi, I have a craftsman 921.166390 compressor 125 psi, that won't run right. When I start it, I watch the electrical contact bounce back and forth between motor side and centrifugal assembly. Sometimes

Go back for warranty that centrifugal is not adjustable without knowledge because of a short timing it should ON TIME interrupt the start capacitor. sometimes there are series of compressors where are modifications because of capacitors and adjustments , years ago the brand Dutack compressor 10-110 was a China made product with much trouble in the beginning also by broken parts with that centrifugal itterupt switch circuit there is a timing needed on the point that it should interrupt , go immediately back for warranty.

I have a Yamaha v star 1100 classic, I can hear the starter turning, but not catching on and starting, it's like it's not catching into the fly wheel or something. It started up fine the...

failed starter clutch...this is a one way centrifugal coupling within the motor that engages with the starter then disconnects when the motor fires. When these fail...the starter clutch will no longer engage with the engine properly.

The machine is a AEG Turnamat 2000. This is a twin tub machine. The centrifuge will not spin. The motor is an AEG with two stator windings and a 6mfd capacitor to give phase differential. The motor...

Hi,
I did some major repairing on my Turnamat 2000 a couple of years ago, including repairing the leaking drains in the centrifuge housing. Regarding your centrifuge motor, and assuming it has power supply and still can run, you might want to check out the lid switch which could be corroded. In order to do this you will have to take of the top of the washing machine, enabling you to examine this switch and more. You can then disassemble the switch and give it some overhaul. I added a picture for your convenience.
Good luck!

Chrysler sebring 2.5L V6...sounds like starter is spinning but solenoid is not engaging...timing belt intact... this does not seem possible..am I crazy?

Well your not crazy but you are talking about 2 different things. The starter will spin but there is a thing called a ben-dex that is driven out of the starter motor by centrifugal force it then engages the starter ring on the flywheel, it is probably this that is stuck or seized up and not engaging the fly wheel. Answer is to remove the starter and see if this is the problem.

Wont Run unless hold start switch

You most likely have a faulty motor centrifugal switch. This switch is engaged when the motor starts rotating. The switch itself could be faulty or the inertia-mechanism that activates the switch could be faulty. The inertia-mechanism usually has two small springs that pull it back into its resting position when the motor stops turning. I have found that the springs will sometimes break and produce the symptom you have described.

Below is a diagram of common centrifugal switches. The switch will be mounted on the end of the motor.

Kenmore dryer only runs while start button is depressed. Timer ? Thermostat ?

Centrifugal switch on the motor. Either the switch is bad or te motor is not turning fast enough to engage it.

My dryer will only stay on if start switch is pushed in. i replaced the switch and it still does the same thing

The centrifugal switch on the motor has probably failed.

This switch is engaged when the motor starts turning and keeps it running when the start switch is released. Often, the tiny springs on the centrifugal switch will break causing the switch to not operate properly. If the springs are good, the switch could be faulty.

The dryer runs without the start switch being used.

Good day,
The dryer start switch, starts the motor by bypassing the centrifugal
switch built into the motor. Once the motor is running, releasing the switch doesn't matter because the motor gets it's power directly from the timer to the motor thru the centrifugal switch.

Either the switch on the consul has welded the contacts, or the centrifugal switch in the motor has done the same.

To test, unplug, and access the start switch. remove one of the wires from the switch, tape it to prevent shorting, and try the dryer. If it fails to start, then it is the switch.
If it still does the same thing as before, it is the centrifugal switch in the motor.
