You need a voltmeter to test with. Check your battery voltage while the bike is running. At idle you should get around 13-14v, at 4000 rpm you should get over 14. If you're getting less than 13 your charging system has a problem. Could be a bad voltage regulator.

Battery went dead so I jumped it with a power pack 350 amp. It starts but runs rough and eventually dies and all lights flash and speedometer needle jumps back and forth.

Sound like your alternator is shot. Do the test ..After you charge the batery or get it boosted if you remove the positive battery post OFF the battery and the engine dies right away your alternator if shot .

97 buick century was running after jump started, when put in reverse it died and wont start when jump start, no chimes or lights come on at all

Dangerous practice to try & jump a near dead battery

Always try charging a battery, that is only a couple years
old & not run down more than two or three times

If the battery is dead & reads less than 12 volts, have a parts
store test it or just replace it.

Jumping a cars battery is not a fix for anything,so I fail to
see how your lost & have not addressed the battery issue,
so you can continue on with other testing,if needed

MY 350 amp Black and Decker Jump Starter's battery is bad, replacement

They all have the same gray battery in there... but first connect it to the car batery while the car is running for about 30 minutes and see if the battery charges. The little cjharger you have could be not doing a good job...

It wont crank like not getting power

ok sounds like you have a dead battery
1) if turns but slowly:

posible causes:
1.1) old dead batery/
or underchaged battery >check altenator in this case

did you leave your headlights turnt on and drained the battery of its charge?if so get a jump start and then run the car for 30-45 mins to rechagre the battery

if you have at your disposal anothere batery that you know has a good charge
try starting your car with that batery(not using jumper cables) hook it up!
if the slugish turn over is still there

1.2) check your wire conections for corision this means completly disconecting 1 lead at a time (only on one end of that lead)and cleaning them with a wire brush or some sand paper.
(on the battery and the starter also the ground strap conection to the frame.)

2) WONT TURN OVER AT ALL:
posible causes:
2.0) dead battery >try charging it>get a jump start
2.1) blown turnkey igntion fuse
2.2) blow fuse for main har nes wires
2.3) bad starter
2.4) corosion on wire conection (most often the batery terminals)
2.5) starter replaced and hooked up incorectly.

2.6) alram system preventing the turnkey igntion system from getting power

Will start and run fo a short distance and cut off. I had the battery checked and charged and it tested ok. could it be the alternater?

Could be..... the batery is just used for starting, once the engine is running it pulls electric power from the altinator, if the altinator which also charges the batery, is not working power is pulled from the battery, and when the battery goes dead, the car does too. When the Car turns off, do you then need to jump it to start it? if so you could be pretty convinced that the altinator is the issue

'97 Mitsubishi Galant starts when jumped, runs fine to destination, won't start again unless jumped. Ideas?

You have a bad battery or bad connections to your battery. Try to charge the battery first. If the problem still occurs then replace the battery. It should be ok after this. good luck.

Needs a jump to start the car, but when i take it for a ride it will lose power for a few seconds, then we would park it and the radio light will stay on and the battery would go dead.

While the car is running take off one of the battery cables if the car dies You need to get a new alternater The car runs on the juice from the jump... You probably can't drive far without it going dead
