Pull out the dip stick wipe it clean , then dip it again and check oil level , should be between low and full . is it due for a oil change ?, If that checks out remove the oil pressure switch, and fit a pressure gauge screwed into the oil pressure switch housing. start engine and check pressure ,around 10 PSI at idle is ok, If all checks out OK ,replace the oil pressure switch.

Oil light means loss of oil pressure.. not good ..check oil level fill to full if low..low oil pressure will cause fuel pump to be shut off..

I think its the transmission.

Do you have a check engine light showing in the dash? If it was an ignition problem you would have a CEL on.

P0011 code. My car started jurking in the middle of traffic about a month ago. The first week, I replaced the cam sensor and it drove smooth for 2 weeks but the jurking came back. I got the cam sensor from...

PLEASE READ ALL THIS INFO.

MAKE SURE THE ENGINE OIL IS CLEAN AND CHANGED AT PROPER INTERVALS
P0011 NISSAN - Intake Valve Timing Control Performance Bank 1

Symptoms - Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Possible engine lack/loss of power
- Posssible engine rough idle
Possible causes - Harness or connectors
- Intake valve timing control solenoid valve circuit is open or shorted
- Intake valve timing control solenoid valve may be faulty
- Crankshaft position sensor (POS) may be faulty
- Camshaft position sensor
Tech notes Since the Intake valve timing control solenoid valve uses oil flow to control timing, dirty oil can cause the valve to stuck open or close. Before replacing the valve, change engine oil and filter and reset engine code. When is the code detected? When there is a gap between angle of target and phase-control angle degree, the valve will stop working and the ECM will trigger the P0011 code. P0011 NISSAN Description This mechanism hydraulically controls cam phases continuously with the fixed operating angle of the intake valve.

The ECM receives signals such as crankshaft position, camshaft position, engine speed, and engine coolant temperature. Then, the ECM sends ON/OFF pulse duty signals to the intake valve timing control solenoid valve depending on driving status. This makes it possible to control the shut/open timing of the intake valve to increase engine torque in low/mid speed range and output in high-speed range.

The intake valve timing control solenoid valve changes the oil amount and direction of flow through intake valve timing control unit or stops oil flow. The longer pulse width advances valve angle. The shorter pulse width retards valve angle. When ON and OFF pulse widths become equal, the solenoid valve stops oil pressure flow to fix the intake valve angle at the control position.

I have an 2001 galant V4 2.4l and the oil and the battery lights keep flashing when the car is in low rpm an the battery drains completely in a couple of days

not sure these are related. battery light is due to alternator failure. Oil light is due to oil pump wear. The oil pump may work OK for a couple more years. Replace it if it gets much worse (if light comes on above 1000 rmp). The alternator must be replace now.

Overdrive light flashes on shifter then. Truck shuts off. I already replaced the speed sensor as that was the code it gave

sounds like the torque convertor clutch is staying locked up and not relsing when it quits running does it jurk like you were driving a stick shift and tryed to stop withe the car in gear without pushing in the clutch if so this is the problem the dtc will conferm this

When driving (auto) in 2nd gear car jurks

If the transmission fluid was VERY low, the damage may already be done. I know on alot of Rav-4's, there is a computer problem, that causes transmission problems. basically, it wants to shift into 2 gears at once, and will eventually make the transmission come apart. BUT, it has to be replaced WITH the ECU because it will just break the new transmission. I would take it to your local Toyota dealer and have them check the ECM and transmission.
