Make sure to drain gasoline from the tank first.
Remove the side covers and the seat.
Remove the rubber covers from the front tank mount at front of tank (right side).
Remove the two screws at the front of the tank and the rear screw located in the "V" of the rear of the tank. Use care not to drop the bolts or retaining washers.
Disconnect the vent and water drain hose at the rear of the tank on the left side.
Position the front wheel straight ahead to gain adequate clearance between the tank and the triple clamp.
Lift the rear of the tank 2-3 inches above the frame and support
Disconnect the fuel level sensor/fuel pump wiring harness.
CAUTION: Remove the cap from the bleed valve on the fuel rail (under the tank on the right side). Wrap a clean rag around the fitting and depress the center of the bleed valve to relieve pressure on the fuel line.
Caution: Protect the tank from damage with a soft cloth or pad when installing tank mounting bolts.
Loosen the clamp and remove the fuel line from the fuel rail fitting. A small amount of fuel will drain from the fuel line, Catch it with an appropriate container or shop rag.
Remove the fuel tank. Place in a safe place unless you're replacing it.

Reverse the process to reinstall it.
