Drain the gas from the tank and carbs.(there are drain plugs on the bottom of the float bowls on the carbs) (to drain tank you will just need to unplug the hose that runs from the tank to the carbs and open the filler cap after opening the petcock) Put everything back together and fill with fresh gas and try to run it. If this doesn't work then you will need rebuild the carbs by just replacing the main jets in your carbs because they may be shot. If you still have problems after that then check the float bowl height on each. You will need a repair manual for that bike to get those measurements. Good Luck!

I think you would be better of checking the ignition pick-up located on the right side engine cover. you may want consider searching for info on the ignition pickup, as apparently it is a weak link on these engines. That was the first thing i repalced when i got got mine as it had sat for a while.

SOURCE: Starts then shuts off if put in gear

Check the side stand kill switch. It kills the engine so that you don’t start out with the side stand down. Broken or out of adjustment, it would make the bike die as soon as you put it in gear or release the clutch. Check for a broken wire at the switch or coupler. Get a service manual and check out the electrical section. Some bikes have a diode integrated into the turn signal relay. Try moving the kill switch by hand. If that doesn’t work then wire a jumper around the switch to bypass it. If that doesn’t work, check out the relay. Chances are that your '83 does not have the special relay.

Go to the site below where you can see a parts diagram for your specific bike. You will select the actual brand, year, model, etc., once you go to the site. Part numbers and prices are also shown. You can order parts from this site. In the event no price is shown on a particular part, the part is not in stock. www.babbittsonline.com/pages/parts/viewbybrandand/parts.aspx

Check out the tab "ELECTRICAL 2" at the bottom of the diagram, item #15. Babbit's has them in stock, $60.00. I don't get paid for my answers but I do take pride in them, and I am only trying to help. So if you will, > > A “very helpful” rating for this answer? Thanks!

SOURCE: High Idle On Start-up.

Most fuel injected motorcycles do start up in a "fast idle" mode. Although I don't know much about fuel injection on Harleys (H-D will not tell you much about it unles you are one of their technicians), I don't think the system is equipped with an engine temp sensor. Since the crank case sensor get it's pulses from pockets cut into the outer edge of the left side flywheel half, the sensor will have oil on it.

Does DTC B0092 disrupt engine idle running? engine cranks and runs for just 3 seconds, then shuts off itself, with ignition still on.

The "B" represents a body code and I wouldn't think it would shut down the engine. I would google the code and see just what it is for. Hope this helps.

Getting fire on the fuel pump relay but no fire to the gas tank. is there a safety shut off on the car?

wow1 ,no symptoms posted really?
wow2 , no year car stated... now that is challenging.
1998-2009
fire?
the pump , is electric, in the tank.
and it gets 12vdc (not fire) to it, from the fuel pump relay.
and the relay is controlled by the ECU/PCM (no year, no guess)
the PCM closes the relay cranking.
so that takes 2 persons to test it , one at key , one at pump or a very long set of test wires.
some suzuki run the pump for 3 seconds, key on, but only some do.
my 96 dont. for example nor my 2004. Vitara.
and in 3 seconds, (if it does) you will miss that easy.
that is how its done on all EFI cars on earth.
connect the volt meter, and crank, got 12v or at least 11v?

i check fuel pressure by the FSM book first. and save all this fiddling about. no take pulling and such rot.

shut off questions.
2.5L and 2.7L sold.
the 2005 (wild guess)
shows no such shut off and is still a loop system.

now fuel pump 101
the ECU is programmed to run the pump only cranking and engine run time.
so we check pressure, cranking, it will be highest then.
38-44 psi
on some years the pump can run for 3 secondes, keyon.
this is programming, and many years, this 3 second rule was changed. to non.
so we always crank the engine to check fuel pressure, or lose the game.
this is for prevention of crash and burn, like seen on TV>
and to prevent hyrdalocking the pistons.
the PCM cuts fuel for many reasons (logic)
1: lost spark
2: throttle stuck wide open throttle , eg: TPS sensor ground cut(busted)
3: dead CMP or CKP sensor (1 or other can kill spark)

any scan tool can see 1,2,or 3, just scan it.cranking, and keep the key on. until the scan too finishes its scan.

Can u make the fuel pump run when key is on

the pump will only run for 3 seconds then shut off until the engine is cranked at which time it should stay running until the car is shut off.

Tricks to starting 435 husqvarna

There is no trick, push the primer button as many times as it takes to 3/4 fill the bulb ( you cannot over prime it no matter how many times you push it ) pull the red start switch out and at the same time lift up until it locks up, crank the engine twice or until it fires, do not continue to crank, push the red stop button down half way, crank engine until it starts and runs, blip the trigger to bring to idle.

Have new 450 and is very difficult to start. Lost or didn't get book. How do I start it and re-start it while still warm??

Start procedure is, push the primer as many times as it takes to 3/4 fill the bulb ( you cannot over prime it ) pull the blue choke lever fully out, place the saw on the ground with your right boot through the back handle, crank the engine until it fires once, do not continue to crank the engine with the choke out ( they will not run on choke, only fire ) push the choke fully home, crank the engine until it starts, blip the throttle trigger to bring the saw to idle, warm engine, pull the choke fully out and push in again without cranking engine, this will engage the part throttle, crank the engine until it starts, blip the throttle to bring the engine to idle.

Can anyone help with fuel mix and starting instructions for McCulloch 2214av chainsaw please

Ok, always use good quaility teo stroke oil, from a manufacturer who actually produces a chainsaw, ie Husqvarna/Stihl/Jonsered etc, all of these oils should be run at 50-1, avoid oil makes you have never heard of.
Starting instructions are as follows, switch the red ignition switch too on ( up ) depress the primmer bulb as many times as it takes to 3/4 fill the bulb ( you cannot flood the engine if you over prime, it is better to over prime ) pull the blue choke fully out, crank the engine until it fires once ( it will only fire once, do not continue to crank the engine after it first fires with the choke still out ) now push the choke fully back in, crank the engine until it fires up and runs on fast idle, now blip the throttle trigger to diss engage the fast idle position, the saw should now drop down to idle.

2002 blazer crank but wont start

2 things that you have to check on no starts every time. Spark at spark plug and fuel. Turn key to run position and listen at gas tank for fuel pump to run you should hear a whining noise. This will only happen for 3 to 4 seconds then it will shut off until engine starts. You can turn key off then to run every 3 to 4 to listen for fuel pump. You may hear the relay click off in engine area even if pump does not run. Fuel pump failure is pretty common. If pump is running pull spark plug out or put a spare plug into spark plug wire and have someone crank engine set plug on engine and watch for spark. This will give you a starting point. Hope it helps.
