GPZ1100 was built from 1981 to 1985. If you have a 1998 ZX1100, there is a retaining screw in the front of the signal lamp lens to remove it ftom the fairing. You may want to splice the old wire connectors onto your new signals if you're not going stock.
I've had several Vulcans, and they were never designed to be fitted with a complete fairing. Fitting a specific windscreen and engine bars is as far as any rider went with our group. Leg shields could then be attached to the engine bars is you really wanted them, usually made from weatherproof leather.
Is the bike flooding out then? Smell gas?
One possibility could be, sticking carb floats . It has been known for the composit floats to become porous and soak in fuel which makes them too heavy to float . Its a lonng shot but if you have to strip the carbs just check .
Good luck.
yep good advice being offered. If you do go the self repair route, try www.redzed.proboards.com I have a fairly detailed log of my zephyr 1100 rebuild which maybe useful either to put you off, or give you the motivation to do it yourself.
