What oil did you use? 10w40 motor oil is standard. Did you use Honda transmission fluid or some "special" oil?

It says in my rs 125 manual use sae 75w/90 gear oil so i would use that but if you have tryed to use different oil don't mix them both otherwise u'll need to be buying some new clutch plates.

Dump the special oil and go back to 10w40 motor oil. The manufacturer does not recommend any "special" oils be used. They can cause the clutch friction disks to swell among other problems like you currently are having. If possible, stick with the name brands; Shell, Mobil, Pennzoil, Quaker State, etc.. It may take awhile to rid the bike of the synthetic oil but get it out of the gearbox as soon as possible.

Please take a moment to rate this answer. Thanks Tim.

That is some pretty thick oil. Go with the oil Aprilia specifies. Stay away from synthetics. Give me some info on your bike. Is it a 2000 model as the headline says? I may have a free service manual available for you.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I was on an Alaskan cruise vacation from the 8th through the 17th. Replacing the clutch is not a big deal. I wouldn't do a replacement until after you dump the special oil and go back to 10w40 motor oil. Have you done that yet? Go to the site below and you can download a free service manual and even a free parts manual. http://www.carlsalter.com/motorcycle-man... Most manuals are in English but some are not. There is no way to be sure without doing the download. You can always delete it if in a foreign language. Adjust the clutch per the manual. With good oil and proper clutch adjustment, is there still a problem?

Transmission slipping when you first accelerate. Wondering if it could be something electrical. Please advise on what needs to be done.

you have an electrical gear box but it still works on oil presher and clutch/brake bands,,,if there slipping first check the gearbox oil is full and the colour of it,,it shouldbe red,,if its a dark brown and smells burnt you need to have the gearbox looked at,, do this sooner than later as the longer the box slips the more its going to cost you fixing it,,

Have an rs125 aprilia, it keeps stopping through having too much oil going into the engine and oiling up the sparkplug. Have tried putting a new plug in, but it does the same 10 minutes later?

you may find that you need to replace the oil pump as there set up for the right mix of oil to fule, there may be an oil jet you can change on it

My 1999 Aprilia rs125, No clutch.

Nope. Pressure plates use mechanical springs which don't fail with this symptom. It's your pressure cylinders for the clutch fluid. Either the main cylinder that is activated when you squeeze the lever or the slave cylinder that moves when fluid is displaced from the main cylinder. Check the fluid level in the small tank usually located on the handle bar and connected to the lever housing. No fluid = source of problem. Refill with the proper fluid. However, if the fluid has gotten very low, you may have gotten air into the fluid line and will need to "bleed" the system to restore good lever pressure and clutch function. Buy a repair manual...Chilton, Clymer, etc.. for your bike for details.

91 250 Bandit clutch/gearbox probs?

Keep in mind that a wet clutch requires special oil and adequate free play to make sure the clutch is fully engaged. Chk both. Regular engine oil wreaks havoc on wet clutches. good luck

Prelude 2.2 vti W reg auto automatic tiptronic gearbox slipping

Hi there. Although the Dealer has changed the oil, did they do a 'Stall Test' whilst the gearbox was cold and again when at normal running temperture? If not, that's what they must do firstly. This will identify whether you have a slipping clutch/s. The Honda autobox also includes what is known as accumulators - these control how each clutch is engaged during acceleration. For example, if you are accelerating slighly/smoothly, you want each gear to be engaged gently and smoothly, whereas, when accelerating hard, you need the gear engaged quickly and hard to aviod clutch slippage. Thus, the fact that you are experiencing a hard engagement might mean that an accumulator/s is seized. If that's the case, it will mean that the autobox will need stripping, cleaning and be checked for worn components. Hope this helps, Scottech.

Clutch cable's change

If this is the same as the RS125 cable i changed then the cable goes into the clutch cover engine casing yes? You do not have to take the whole engine apart you need to disconnect the cable from the lever and then you will have to take the clutch cover off. before you do this you will need to lean the bike on its side as you will lose the gearbox oil otherwise. plus the cluch will fall out as it is held in with dowels and not bolted (stupid design) once you have the cover off then you can disconnect the cable. if your gentle when taking the cover off then u will not have to replace the gasket however this rarely happens you will deffianly need to get a new gasket about 4quid. reconnect your new cable and then put the gasket on and be carefull wen putting the casing back on the engine making sure you do not damage the new gasket.
hope this helps.
