Had a similar problem on mine when I installed the cobra light bar. If you remove the headlight from the housing there is a connector (think it was orange) with a single wire. It is the starter-light cutout. my connector shorted out so I had to cut it and replace it. No headlight problems since. It is worth checking, I had to pay $50 to have the Honda shop find it. Good luck & ride safe!

Check the head light wiring for short-circuit.

Try cleaning the two position switch. It's called the starter button. You push it in halfway and the headlight turns off to allow for more juice to go to the starter. Push it in all the way and it activates the starter solenoid. It is probably either dirty or broken.
Testimonial: "thanks alot! very good advise. and that was the problem. thanks again"

Take apart and clean your starter button or replace the right hand switch assembly. The starter button is a two position switch. Push it halfway and the headlight turns out. Push it all the way and it activates the starter solenoid. If the button malfunctions the headlight does not come back on.
