i don't think so i still have compression you think it could be something electrical

do you know how the time might slip

I think that you need to check that you haven't holed the piston or blown the head gasket. Very common on 2 strokes.

Have you changed anything at all since last running the engine, or a few weeks before it dyed?
Like the exhaust being changed or plug?

My cuzin had the same problem with his 99 warrior it was the stator in the left side the case its electrical it will cost around 150.00 for it, down where ur shifter is the black case says something on it like yamaha take that off u will see the stator, its a wire that runs into the case. it looks like a big magit with wires to it.

If you are getting a nice bright blue spark then no, the last time I had a problem like this it was sugar in my tank. If you taste a bit off your finger and it is the slightest bit sweet, then some one has sugared your tank. If so just flush the tank with a little fresh fuel and then flush the carb, and fuel lines by spinning the engine over for a bit then try to start again.
Is yours an electronic ignition or points. If points gap could be wrong or even timing slipped. That has happened to me also.

A yamaha warrior isnt a 2 stroke. they make a street bike nad a four stroke quad. Check your carburator. check your spark plug and check your stator. it may be very minor considering it was running fine then just went out. no noise or anything. you would have heard something if you broke something internal.

Yamaha YZ quad won't start no spark

Forget the engine number it means nothing. The 17 digit serail number is what you need. It is on the black main frame L.H. side in front of footpegs. That will tell you what model year & size the bike is.
Next, No Spark (a very common problem) is never the ignition coil bad. First, ck that the plug is not black fouled (replace--don't clean). Second, make sure the kill switch is on run. Third, It is probably(95%) a bad Stator/Pulser coil in the L.H. side of the motor that can be checked with a ohm meter at a Yamaha dealership easily.

18.5 hp Briggs & Stratton no spark after running out of gas

I believe you are right about heat induce electrical problem.
About all there is for ignition is the coil and breaker points.

My yamaha raptor has power, spark, fuel and will turn over, but won't start.

Check the compression, pull the spark plugs one at a time if more then one. If you don't have a compression gauge, you can put your figure over the spark plug hole, be mindful that before it blows it's going to **** so make sure that you don't hurt yourself leave a little gap so your figure doesn't suction down to tight. If your getting compression it should **** and blow pretty hard. If it seems to have good pressure and suction. You might need to check your timing, also make sure that you can feel air moving out the exhaust, might not be able to with the pipes on it but if it won't start and your getting everything else it needs to run gas, spark, etc. It has to almost be timing or compression.
