I bought a bike that had been sitting for 2 years and the gas smelled bad so I cleaned the gas tank and the carbs. Now I have no fire on the plugs. I checked before and they were firings but now after I have take the carbs off I get no fire at all.Did I unplug something by accident or is there a safety switch I am missing?

If it has been sat for 2 years the fuel will have broken down so a full system flush with new clean fuel is a good 1st step.
If you have checked the carbs was there any sludge build up in the float chambers. If so I would dismantle and carefully clean with new fuel.
Make sure the tank is emptied and has not rusted. When you know you have clean new fuel. Try starting again.
When you get it running you need to use either a pair or easier 4 vacuum gauges to recalibrate the carbs.
This is fairly straightforward and a cheap set can be bought for as little as 8 pounds try Amazon. Obviously more expensive = better quality but if you are careful with them even a cheap set can be quite reliable.
Tip - Check each gauge against cylinder 1 for reading then you know if they are reading the same. Some are adjustable or just mark and set all to cylinder 1.
2.5 - 3.5 turns out sounds about right as a start point as you said.
It sounds like the float needle valves are lletting gas run into the bowl,in turn running gas into the motor, and fouling the spark plugs. Have you noticed if the oil level seems to be going UP,or the fuel level is going down? Kawasaki motorcycles are prone to leaking needle valves in the carbs for some reason. And the longer it sits, the worse its going to get.Try this,...pull the spark plugs and see if they are wet with fuel. Then, unhook the coils, and spin the motor over with the plugs out.If it shoots raw fuel about a foot out of each or ANY cylinder, then that is your problem. JUST BE SURE TO DISABLE THE COILS BEFORE SPINNING MOTOR OVER,AND DONT BE CLOSE TO THE PLUG HOLES WHEN YOU SPIN IT OVER!! Good Luck!
Well if it has been sitting, check your main things ie: you have a good or new battery, all your fuses are intact, make sure you drain all the old gas out of the bike and try to clean the carbs with some carb cleaner. It sounds like if it is not a bad battery then your gas has turned bad on you in which case it wont start until you clean it all out and put fresh gas in it.Also make sure you clean the spark plugs and check for spark.Good luck.
Yes, drain the carbs. Also clean the air filter. Get a can of spray starting fluid to assist in getting the engine to start. Chances are the carbs are gummed up from sitting so long. You will probably end up removing the carbs for a thorough cleaning.
Try replacing spark plug, and check for spark if you do good, check to see if you have fuel to carb,at bottom of carb there is a float bowl screw loosen the screw and let fuel drain, tighten screw, choke and try again, sometimes when bike sits that long it may need one or two cleans, the bad gas that was in it still has varnash build up and can still clog up the jets.hope this helps.
Clean your tank and rinse the petrol pump, check if petrol pump is running when switching ignition on. You answered your own question. The fuel is not reaching the carb from the tank
Hello shawn...Yes indeed gasoline can degrade over time. That can lead to a number of problems, ranging from hard starting, to rough running, to no starting at all...If your bike was stored for 2 years the gasoline in it has degraded beyond use. Even if the gas was treated with stabiliser before it was stored...it will still degrade in 10-12 months, if not sooner. I'm suprised your bike will even start. I suggest you drain ALL the gas out of the tank, Rinse and refill with fresh gas, drain your carbs as well...the stale gas has most likely clogged the pilot jets, draining the carb bowls will help. Go to your parts store and buy a can of "Seafoam" pour 1/2 of it in with your fresh gas..use the other 1/2 on your next tank of gas. Replace fuel filter after 1st tank, the seafoam will dislodge any debris that was in the fuel tank. It will also clean the combustion chambers and carb jets. Check your carb boots for any cracks or detoration that would cause a vacuum leak. Replace your spark plugs. If your bike is still running rough after this, then the carbs will need to be removed and cleaned and/or rejetted. Good luck..i hope this helps, please rate me a fixya.
ok i have one and i just fixed mine you need to drain the fuel from bottom of carbs and drain the tank also. then replace the spark plugs once you do that add new fuel in tank and drain the carbs again unitil good fule start runing out then shut them off. aftre that make sure there are two line connected to the petcock from the carb. spray soem starting fluid in the air box and chock it boom it will start. if it has spark.
