2000 Yamaha XJ 900 Diversion. I've got an engine noise that seemed to have come on quick. It appears to be coming from the top of the engine. It sounds like a shaft running in dry bearings. Any idea what it is and how to solve it.

Have you had it serviced lately?? Is the oil the correct viscosity?? Have you changed the oil filter recently?? Mine went slightly noisey when I replaced the oil and filter, The oil I used was too thick, I`ve got 10W 40 in now, It`s run great since I changed it in April. Touch wood. Ian
