89 f250 460 engine starts but when u drive it it cuts off like not getting fuel then it wont start , but after waiting a few minutes it starts , then cuts off again after a few minutes, is it a fuel filter, or possibly a catalytic converter. how many fuel filters are there on this engine.

It sound like the coil get hot it will cut off till it cool down ,it is possible that it is a fuel filter ,it has only one unless someone has added one

This is one of them faults thats very difficult to diagnose but if what you say is right then i would change the drivers door lock ,they are repairable as they are a sealed unit on these cars, but i did have a similar problem with a petrol version on one of the first models of these cars about a 99 or 2000 as i remember and it would play up just like this ,open and close the door lock with key three times and it started.then be ok for a week then not start again so i had the key man down with his programmer and he checked it out for the key remote and found nothing wrong with either the master or the spare key and he said try changing the door lock because he had this problem before with other ford focus models and mondeos .Change the lock and it was ok for a week but the owner sold the car for a new car on the scrappage scheme so i never did find out it was ok after that

SOURCE: I have a 2006 F350, 6.0 Diesel that is not starting well

What your describeing sounds like a fuel pressure issue. The only way to confirm is to hook up a pressure gauge to verify. Then if the pressure is low you will need diagnostic procedures like the ones that can be had at mitchell1diy online. There are several seals within the system not to mention sensors. Not knowing what any of these read without a data scanner noone can accurately guess whats going on with your truck. Personally I would not touch this if your new diesels. This really needs to be put in the shop. Also if you have oil pressure issue the truck will also do this, Listening to someone recommned maybe this maybe that is only going to get expensive if you choose to just throw parts at this. You have already paid more for the parts you threw on than a diagnostic would run and you have taken a step backwards which really leaves one confused. But either way if you choose to work on your truck you need the sight I mentioned to proceed.

(if engine is good, not overheated )
its only 1 of 2 things.
lost spark (do a spark test using , yes, a test good spark plug)
if spark is good on all cyl
then check fueling, if spark plugs not soaked in fuel (tips)
then try test fuel.
if soaked, the op guide says, hold throttle fully open (depressed 100%) this cuts INJECTIONS 100% and you start a flooding motor)

Engine cuts off

I think you might need to change the fuel pump you can try changing the fuel filter first but it is most likely the fuel pump

When driving suddenly the engine cuts out.

I heave the same problem on my Corsa B 1.0 2000, engine cuts out, and whe it happens, I hear one of the relay under the right side of the dash buzzing. After a couple of minutes, starts like nothing happend.
So far I manage to find that the speed sensor is faulty, when I tap him the car stops. I order a brand new one, but I'm not sure that was the issue.
I order also a Opel Tech2 tester from ebay and it has to arrive next week, then I can see the error code.

hello, you have a 300 se with 103 engine (straight 6 cylinder) we have two possible cause of the problem, fuel and ignition side,on workshop they have a fuel gauge to check the fuel pressure (filter, fuel pump, fuel pimp relay) on fuel side, then for ignition spare plug, distributor cap, rotor, switching unit (transistor box for ignition side,ok, when your engine stop, try to hear from the rear,if your fuel pump motor is working,or you can remove your spare plug to determine what is missing fuel or ignition,ty
