Fuel leaking i have an aprillia 125 just a year old. i went on holiday but when came back started it and fuel came flooding out. i was told it was the floats sticking so i hit them with a hammer on the carbs but wont free up. how can i stop this without taking the carbs off

Garbage in the carbs. They have floats with a needle and seat. Trash gets stuck under the needle and cannot stop the fuel flow. The carbs, fuel system needs to be cleaned out and a large fuel filter installed to keep this from happening again.
make sure your float isn't sticking, whats happening is its flooding itself while it sits,, and by you removing the cover and filter its allowing a massive flow of air to blow out the flooding and get the fuel air mix a little better,, see if it will start while holding the throttle wide open,, if so, your float is sticking
put it on a charger and then start it. pump the gas to prime it. You'll need to replace the battery because it's shot. I have a Aprilla 250 and love it.
dear hard to start first thing to do is to install a new plug and second make sure your choke system is working. you could try to prim the engine by squirting fuel in spark plug hole if fires up right away you have choke problem. that would mean a carb cleaning.
