What do you mean when you say you fixed the cable. It sounds like the cable broke and you replaced it. Is that correct. If so, did you adjust the free play in the clutch pedal to the manufacturers specification. If you have not done this correctly the clutch will either not disengage, or no engage properly. From your description it appears as though there is n free play and hence the clutch is staying disengaged even when you release the clutch pedal. If this is the case, then try lengthening the cable until the clutch pedal moves with say 25 mm of free movement before anything happens, and try again.

So if you raise the revs to say about 4000 rpm and let the clutch out does it stall or judder or both will it engage at all and pull away ?

Back wheels often move when the lever is pulled in...this is due to hydraulic drag caused by the oil on the clutch plates and is totally normal. You should be able to stop the wheel by hand with the lever in.
With the lever out the clutch is fully engaged and the engine will therefore stall with the brake on...
As long as the wheel rotation can be stopped by hand with the clutch pulled in it's behaving normally...
Rocking the bike in gear is a method that's used to seperate the plates on a clutch that is dragging...usually if it's not been used for a while.

The clutch lever should have some tension, so could be a problem with the hydraulic actuator stuck, or a failure of the clutch. try bleeding the clutch, or pull the clutch cover off and see if the pressure plate moves

try to adjust your clutch lever by adjusting the cable

Turn the clutch adjustment bolt towards the clutch-lever surface all the way in-not too tight. Feel the lever pressure as crisp, engage the first gear, and see if the bike moves when you engage; stops when you dis-engage. Give the adjustment-bolt a couple outward turns, and see. Repeat procedure as necessary.

push rod bent ? too short ?

is there any free play with the clutch lever? only need about a quarter inch of free play.. if there is none, it will burn out the clutch plates.

You have either air in your hydraulics which you need to bleed or else the clutch plates are worn/warped....here is the repair manual....

At a guess.... Your clutch is slipping. Higher gears and increased drag at hiway speeds put the most torque through the clutch and it sounds like that's when the plates start to slip. When you back off the plates grab again until the load over powers the plates again. But that's just a inter-guess through a computer screen...... ,,
