Putting a Kawasaki double seat in place of the stand. solo seat.

I just purchased a 04 Kaw. Drifter.  It came standard with a solo seat, but Kawasaki has offered a double seat for customers that wanted to be able to carry a passenger.  My question is this:  is extra hardware needed to switch out the solo seat to a double?  My suspicion is yes, as the Drifter has a very unique suspension and rear fender.  The fender is actually just plastic and cannot support a seat with passenger.  So, if extra hardware is needed, does Kawasaki still offer it (they no longer offer the seat) and how much does it cost?

Yep you need some extra hardware to support the passenger. I've looked for about 30 minutes and I can't find one where I always go.....Ha I found one! http://fiche.ronayers.com/Index.cfm/Module/Main/TypeID/26/Type/Motorcycle/MakeID/3/Make/Kawasaki/YearID/45/Year/2004/ModelID/4101/Model/Vulcan_1500_Drifter/GroupID/128755/Group/Optional_Parts if this doesn't work it is ronayers.com click OEM parts on the left tab and click online microfiche, then go kawasaki - motorcycles and then go from there selecting your bike............so now your looking at a long list of categories huh........click optional parts and there it is you need 35011A, 32046, 132A (2) to have a seat.....as far as the other parts that entirely up to you....of course your going to need the bolts as well but you can buy them at your local hardware store cheaper than on here but thats up to you
I hope this helps.......skim that picture and choose what you want or need I dunno if you have the passenger pegs or not and so on and so fourth.........hope to see your riding one day they are great bikes!

I lost my manual from my Kawasaki Drifter 800 and want to know where to find the battery and how to replace it. Thanks a lot, Peter

You have to remove the seat and its under there, make sure you get the correct battery when replacing it, it takes a maintanance free battery, you should probably go to a Kawasaki dealer and get one.

What does the sr mean in kaw kz 650 sr

Rumour was that the SR stood for 'STATESIDE REPLICA' and this was what Kawasaki thought a replica should be!.

Does anyone know if a Drifter 1500 tank will fit a Drifter 800? Thanks!

I am not positive, but I know the bikes have different frames. As a rule of thumb, Kaw will make slight changes so the parts will not interchange. You can go to ronayers.com and look up the microfiche on both bikes to see if the tank part numbers are the same.

Need to add a seat but $1200 is not reasonable. Anybody done it custom?

Google " motorcycle salvage kawasaki ". Chances are you can find a seat there and pay a whole lot less.
