SOURCE: Rear cylinder not firing

The first thing I would do is replace the spark plugs again. You can foul a plug and it will cause you more problems than you can ever imagine. I see you have done all the logical things that I would recommend but I did not see you have replaced the plugs after the 200 miles. You would be surprised at how many times a $2.00 part can cause fits beyond belief.

SOURCE: No Spark

The " FIRE" doesnt come to the coil from any of those things you have changed.......The "fire" comes from the coil TO those items!!!! Good luck, RC

using a meter check your engine to frame ground
your testlight is completing the missing ground wire connection; allowing the spark to jump to ground

I have spark on2 4 no 1 3

1 and 3, and 2 and 4 are on the same circuit. When for example 1 fires to combust, 3 is at the bottom of it's cycle and fires too.
From this perspective, begin at the coils and work your way back and look for the obvious, broken or pinched wires, however most likely your coil is the culprit. If you have the ambition switch the wires between the coils, spin the starter (easier with the plugs out). If you have spark you know for sure. Almost 30 years old I'd just up and change it, and maybe consider changing both. Coils leak and lose efficiency with age and they can be a bear to get to.

Fully charged battery on my 1996 cb500,choke out however wont fire up just does a little puff like sound

NO - SPARK
Check for spark at spark plug.
1. If no spark, test the wire to the coil with test light and see if you have power to coil.
2.If no power to coil, make sure your on/off button is on and working.Use test light.
A. Power at the switch but not at the coil indicates a broke wire from switch to coil.
B. NO power at the switch indicates ingintion switch is off or faulty and not sending power to your switch , make sure key is on. Use trest light.
3. If you have power to the coil but no spark from the coil - replace the coil

SPARK
Check for spark at the plug
1.If you have spark at the plug, but not starting - check that your carbs are getting gas.
2.Petcock Could be off, Fuel Filter could be clogged, Carbs could be dirty or clogged and your not getting any gas.
3.Pull spark plug - If no gas present then your not getting gas, if wet then you getting gas and your flooded. Make sure you have good gasoline, Bad gas won't burn.
or your bike is worn out and dont have any compression.

With Good gas, and Good Spark, and Good compresssion, the bike will run.

If your not getting gas to your motor through the carbs, pull carb off and thouroughly clean it.

How do you test ignition coil for 01 flhr

Disconnect all wires from the coil. Use a DVOM (Digital Volt Ohm Meter) to test the coil. Connect one meter lead (either one) to one of the small primary terminals on the coil and the other meter lead to the other primary terminal. Set the meter's function switch to OHMS, R x 1. You should read between 2 -3 ohms. Any higher or lower, the coil is probably bad.

Now, you may can remove the spark plug wires from the plugs and insert another set of plugs in the wires. Make sure the plugs are grounded on the heads. Turn the switch on and turn it back off. When you turn the switch back off, you should see a single spark at the plugs.

Good Luck

Does not have fire on the 2 & 3 cylinders.Plug wires do nnot have fire. How do I check the coil to see if it needs replaced. This is a 1978 KZ 1000 A2.

Cilinders 1 and 4 are on the same coil, so as the 2 and 3 on the other coil.
Remove all spark plugs from engine and plug them in the spark plug leads and against the engine
To check coils easily: switch the low voltage wires from coil 2-3 to coil 1-4.
No spark at 1 and 4 is a sign that the coil is broken.
No sparks at 2-3 is a sign that the ignotion switchbox is broken, or the pick-up coils for 1-4.
Here also, switch the wires of the pick up coils. If allways the same plugs sparks, the switchbox is broken. If the other plugs sparks, then the pick-up coil is broken...

Hope it helps
