Will 2007 yz250f forks fit on my 2005 yz125? Will I have to change triple trees?

hi lilsilence, thank you for using fixya. below is a line from dirtrider.com, answered the same question for a 2003 which is the intro for speed sensitive suspension.

Several ways to go here. Remove half of the fluid in each fork and addback a 10wt. This will approximate a 7.5wt. Going to a 10wt. willreduce bottoming but will give you some harshness. Depending on yourweight and riding style it is difficult to give you proper advice, justgeneralities.
I use ATF fluid. I'm valved for wood and light MX, stock springs, and Iweigh 155 lbs. ATF is cheap and is something simular to 7.5wt. I'm noexpert and my explanation might not hold water but it works for me.

Mobil1 Synthetic ATF is a very popular fluid that will probably be the weight you want.

Seems to me that I can make much more difference in the action bychanging the fluid levels. If you mix up riding between track andtrail, you may want to consider sub-tanks.

Draw out half of the fluid with a piece of tubing attached to a saryngeand put back an equal amount of 10wt. Adjust the level from there tosuit your comfort.
Sub-tanks give a greater amount of adjustability and plushness. Pricey but do the trick when properly set up.

Use Yamaha suspension oil #01. Amount is 19 ounces. Oil level from top surface w/o cap nut is 3.15" to 5.51". I am sending you a link to a site where you can download a free shop repair manual. It is actually a bit complicated as you will see in the manual.

Remove motorcycle fork
Put the bike on a stand to elevate the front end. Remove wheel, brake caliper, fender and anything else attached to the fork. Loosen the triple tree bolts. You may need to pry a bit with a flat screwdriver in the gaps of the triple trees where the bolts were while pulling down on fork to remove it. They fit tight. Hope this helps.

How do I get my replacment forks back into the lower triple tree on my 1987 FLSTC (Heritage Softail Classic),?
If the old tubes or new ones wont go back in, then either the tree is bent or the pinch bolts have been tightened with no tubes fitted and squeezed the clamp in. Get a lever and CAREFULLY open the clamp enough to insert the tube.

Want to change fork seals
Without knowing what year and model bike you're working on, I'll have to be "general" in my explanation. To change the fork seals, you must either take the upper and lower fork tube assembly out of the triple trees or be able to lift the bike at least 12 inches off the floor. Once you havef drained the tube by removing the small screw in the trailing side of the slider and worked the fork oil out, taken the front wheel off, the front caliper(s) off and the fender or removed the forks from the triple trees, look at the bottom end of the slider (lower fork). You'll see a special socket head bolt in a recess under there. It takes a 6mm allen wrench or hex key to remove the bolt. It is designed to take a special "piloted" key but you can get it out with a NEW hex key. I prefer one of the hex key sockets that will fit onto an air wrench. It works a lot better. Take the bolt out and the slider comes off the bottom end of the upper tube. Take the rubber boot off the slider, the retainer ring and pry the seal out.

How do i remove the front forks? i took off the nut on top and now i cant get the bearing out?
Hi There.
There is no bearing in the forks. you are trying to take aparts the triple trees.
to remove the front forks
jack bike up
remove front wheel
remove fender
loosen the clamps that go around the forks.
there are 2 triple trees, upper and lower , the upper has the nut your taking off, of course the lower is the bottom. both have clamps that hold the forks in.
then just pull and twist in a downward motion to get the forks out.

reinstallation is reverse steps.
note how much fork is sticking up through the hole in the top triple prior to removal.

if you do want to remove the triple trees and replace your neck bearings, you will have to cut the bottom bearing off, i've never been able to remove those bearings without ruiing them.
that bearing is a very tight fit.

I just bought chrome fork sliders how do i remove the old ones?
If you remove the front wheel, front brake caliper, and front fender and look on the very bottom of the slider where the axle came out, you'll see an 8mm socket head bolt. If you remove this bolt, the slider will come off.

But before you do that, I'd advise draining the oil from the fork leg and releasing the spring tension on the slider by removing the fork tube plug and removing the spring. To get to this plug, you'll probably have to remove the windshield, the nachelle, and the top cap. Then loosen the clamp bolt in the lower triple tree and allow the fork to slide down and out of the triple trees.

When you refill the fork with oil. Use the same amount and viscosity as what was in there. Thicker viscosity and more oil has a tendency to "stiffen" the fork.

Change fork seals on 98 fxdl
You'll have to take each fork leg out of the front end to change the seals. I'm not positive what type front end is on FXDL but it it's a standard type (as opposed to an inverted front end), it's not too difficult.

First remove any sheet metal that might be covering the upper and lower triple trees. Lift the bike off the ground and remove the front fender and front wheel. Loosen the pinch bolt on the upper and lower triple trees. Do one tube at the time. Lubricate the portion of the top tube that is between the upper and lower triple tree. You must slide the fork assembly out of the triple trees. Loosen but don't remove the top caps.

With the fork assembly now out of the triple trees, remove the top cap and pull the spring out. Notice if the spring has a tapered end. Remember which way it came out so you can put it back in the same way. Invert the tube and pour out the oil and let it drain.

You'll see an 8mm bolt in the bottom. Sometimes this is a shallow piloted bolt. If so, you'll need at least a brand new hex key or allen wrench to loosen the bolt. Take the bolt out and slide the lower slider off the top tube. You now have access to the seal. Make sure you put the seal in faceing the correct way. Rince the slider out on the inside with clean mineral spirits and allow to dry. When you assemble the tube and install it on the bike, the amount of oil you put in it is the "dry" amount since you disassembled the tube and poured all the oil out. Put the sping back in the tube and install the top cap. Insert the tube into the triple trees and slide the tube upwards until the top of the top cap is 0.420" to 0.500" above the top of the upper triple tree (notice the height of the other tube that you haven't moved yet).

Fork seal replacement on 82 yamaha 750 seca
On the top and bottom parts of the triple tree either both or one will have bolts. First take the fender off. Take the front tire off. Loosen the bolts on the triple tree. They should slide down. If not you have to get a rubber mallet and tap on the top of the fork and twist the fork as you are doing this. Once it is out, pull the dust seal off the top of the lower fork. There will be a clip inside, take the clip off drain the oil out of the top or bottom depending on how the forks are made. Push the fork tube down into the lower fork slightly, pull both apart with a firm tug and they should separate.
