black plugs is running too rich
you lack of information doesn't include relevant information like engine size, 2stroke -4stroke-points or ignition module
backfiring is the combustion of a air fuel mixture when the inlet manifold is open to the combustion chamber
if 2 stroke it can be from a lean mixture from leaking crank shaft seals, worn rings
if 4 stroke it will occur when the inlet valve is open
this can be from incorrect valve clearance opening the valve too early
the ignition can be from a loose earth wire for the points or ignition module, faulty module or loose wire in the ignition switch or kill switch
I would take it to another bike shop for a diagnosis as the first shop is missing something either from a poor evaluation of the problem or from a lack of experience by the mechanics
A little more information is needed here. Is the bike turning over? Is the starter motor turning the engine over but not starting? Is it sputtering or coughing or backfiring?
Was it running and then just stopped? has it been sitting for a while and now won't start?
Engines need fuel, air, compression and spark to fire. Try the following. Try to start it and then:
1. pull the spark plugs. Are they wet? can you smell gas? If not you probably are not getting fuel to the engine for it to start. This bike probably has fuel injection. On many FI bikes, when you turn it on you can hear the fuel pump turn on. do you hear that? Look at the fuse box and see if you have a blown fuse for any critical functions such as fuel pump, ignition, etc.
How do the spark plugs look? Are they corroded and black and burned looking? Fouled spark plugs. Try replacing them. If they are whitish and look as if the metal as eroded away your engine is running lean and you need new plugs but also need to address running too lean or you will burn up your engine.
2. If spark plugs are wet you are getting gas. hold the base of the spark plug against metal such as the engine and press the starter. You should see a spark on the plug if it is properly grounded. If you don't see a spark then either your plugs are bad or you aren't getting spark due to a dead battery or a problem between the battery and the spark plug such as fuse box or an issue with chip that controls the engine.
3. How old is the battery? If you are having battery issues you probably can't run the starter but you might be having issues there as well.
4. If the bike is sputtering and backfiring it is probably a timing issue. I don't know your model of bike but I am pretty sure the timing is controlled by a chip. That may have issues or again, maybe a fuse that controls elements of the ignition system has blown. Are there any wires that have broken or have exposed metal that could be shorting? Any of the leads to the FI system come undone?
If your bike is backfiring then there must be some sort of spark as it wouldn't backfire without one. You need to check the whole starting process to see where the problem comes from.
I would check( if you haven't already) your ht leads, surpressor caps, sparks plugs and coils just to ensure 1 or more are not faulty, also check that the coils are getting charge sent to them.
Try using new spark plug instead of old ones, place in surpresor caps, 1 at a time, place against a metal surface(do not hold or touch) then try to start the bike, if there is a spark then move on two the next cap. If none of them have spark check coils are getting charge from battery, this way you can narrow it down without spending to much.
Hope any of this is useful , good luck toastie.
Sounds like you are fouling your plug. Some possible causes make sure you air filter is clean. Correct gas oil mixture. How the bike is being use Trail riding/freestyle.This bike in stock form will foul plugs if it is being used as a trail bike.If everything is good air filter/gas-oil. Then you need to do a spark plug reading. This will determine if you need to rejet the carb. Hope this helps D.
Have you tried new spark plugs? One fouled plug or bad spark plug cap can cause backfiring. Possibly dirty carbs ( a stuck float). Backfiring on deceleration can be caused by bad exhaust gaskets where the headers attach to the head (an air leak)
no your totally wrong the backfire is bcause if u juice the throttle there is excess fule in the cylinders witch give it no where to go so it ignights and creates a backfire witch is not necessarly bad.
The bike needs 3 things to run, fuel, compression and spark correctly timed. Try taking one plug out and connect it to the ignition lead. rest the plug against the engine and crank the bike - You should see a fat blue spark. If you have a spark, stick your finger down the plug hole where you removed the plug and crank again, there should be enough compression to blast you finger out. If you have all these, check the fuel filter
Could be your spark plugs, or maybe your side stand as some bikes if not all of them now have a switch on the side stand which prevents the rider from starting the bike if the stand is extended. So if the spring which retracts the stand is slightly lose, it pulls on the switch and cuts off power. Im not an expert but just check these.
Could also be that your carbs are dirty. So just give them a bit of a service and check for any blockages in there.
