I'm building a Kaleidoscope with internal lighting. I have the lighting worked out with a switch, but I would prefer it to turn on with a sensor that detects when the kscope has been picked up.

For a non-powered solution, you could use a tilt ball switch from Adafruit to turn on the kaleidoscope when it is picked up: https://www.adafruit.com/products/173
This will only keep the kaleidoscope on while it is held in a certain position.

You can also add a flip-flop latching timer that is activated when the tilt ball switch is triggered. The kaleidoscope would then stay on for a certain amount of time. I found this on eBay, but have never used this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/262578744921

Hopefully this helps or at least gives you some ideas. :-)

How do I install a dash mat if my dashboard is warped?

First the trim on the face has to be removed ( be very careful while removing them as they are thin placating ) . In some cases the radio may or may not have to be removed . One all trim is removed , look at the dash pad all the way against the windshield for any screws . If they are not bistable they may be under another piece of trim . Most of this trim will be secured with spring clips . Once all screws are removed you will have to do some jiggling to loosen it for removal as they fit pretty tightly . Install in reverse order . Hope this helps

How do you test the three relays to the radiator fan on a 1995 Mercury Villager?

When you apply power and relay clicks, that means its good.Best way to test relay issue is swap the relay with another working relay of same type and see if problem goes. This relay issues are very frustrating, while testing it shows good but still it will not work sometimes and after replacing relay all gets good. Also relays are not costly to replace. You can try swapping the relays and see if it helps.

My 2001chrysler town and country van horn does not work

Check the horn relay to see if it works. Most cars use the same relays for multiple other functions. Check the part number on the horn relay and find another relay that is working that has the same part number. Swap out the horn relay with the known good relay. If that doesn't work, check all the wiring in association with the horn. If all the wiring is sound, then it is probably the horn itself, but that is very rarely the case.

The rear power seat doesn't work. When you push the button it just clicks.

hi, if the relay clicks, one side of the relay is working, the coil side. and the battery side (switch) of the relay is not working. NO BATTERY FEED

relays work by a switch on the dash and wirired to relay coil then other side of relay coil is grounded to body this is one part of the circuit (small wiries).

BATTERY FEED go's to CONNTACT SIDE OF RELAY. other side of relay go's to seat motor and then the motor ground to body (HEAVY WIRES) THIS PART OF THE RELAY IS THE HEAVY SWITCH. these relays allow heavy current to be controlled be a small switch and small wire size. it brobly a fuse or a (seat motor sticking) or both. gerry

Sunroof will not work

Power is supplied to the Power windows and sunroof through the power window circuit breaker. That circuit breaker is supplied power through the RAP (retained accessory power) Relay, the RAP relay also supplies power to the radio. The RAP relay is also fuse protected by the RAP fuse in the under hood fuse block. The RAP relay is energized by the BCM body control module.

The RAP relay is responsible for the radio and windows working after the igntion is turned off.

The first place to check would be the RAP fuse in the under hood fuse block and then the RAP relay in the Body fuse block.

A list of the BODY relay block located on the left side of the dash to the right of the interior fuse block is below:

(1) Park Lamp Relay (2) Courtesy Lamp Relay (3) Retained Accessory Power (RAP) Relay (4) Power Seats Circuit Breaker (5) Power Windows Circuit Breaker (6) Inadvertent Power Relay (7) Door Lock Relay (8) Headlamp Ground Relay (9) Driver Door Unlock Relay (10) Door Unlock Relay(1) Park Lamp Relay

Headlights, entire instrument cluster, radio, wipers, power windows, interior lights, randomly and inconsistantly completely shut off at the same time.

Multiple problems like these leads me to think you should:
Check the Relays and Power-to-the-Relays in the IPM located in the engine compartment (also referred to as the fuse box); especially the Accessory Relay. Most these Relays have similiar size/type Relays inside the box. Switch out known working relays with suspected not working relays and check the known working function. If it now does not work, it is the Relay.
If this does not work, then there is possibly a wiring issue.
Let me know if this worked or not or if you have any additional questions.
