My clutch cable isnt engaging the clutch - 1994 Yamaha FZR 600

Check to see if current is at the clutch . If so then tap on the clutch pushing it into the hub. If it engages then the air gap is too wide.

Probably low freon pressure. There is a pressure switch that does not allow the clutch to engage if the pressure is too low. This prevents damage to the compressor. Check freon level.

What you need to do is check the air gap in the clutch, if it is to large it will not engage, it can also be adjusted by removing shim washers or removing some thickness off a Washer....

86 wow its a classic ,anyway whatever you have done the clutch isnt dis-engaging and its so old i cannot remember if its a hydraulic or a cable clutch ,seem to think its a SELF ADJUSTING cable on this car but i could be wrong but if it is then you will need reset the clutch cable which means taking it off putting it in a vice then ?? sorry iam old now and my memory ? i think i used to hold the main part then sort of twist or turn and push the cable in then hold it in whilst using a piece of bailing wire to hold it in place so it doesnt spring open then refit the cable and once its on then release the wire .But dont quote me for this model as its been a long time

With the engine not running can you select 1st gear pull in the clutch lever and push the bike with no difficulty, if you cant, it may be the clutch plates have become stuck together, this can occure from standing for long periods, if you can push the bike it may be the neutrol safety switch, or the side stand safety switch have become faulty, and cutting the bike out as a precaution

Your clutch is worn out if it releases at the top, when you replace the clutch you will see it engages closer to the floor board

Take off clutch lever. If it engages fully, check for a worn bearing in lever. Otherwise you have adjusted it improperly or the least possible cause, you did not install spring properly. If when lever is off and clutch still does not engage, remove cable from spring.If clutch engages you either have a faulty cable or somehow you have it bent to far or pinched it..

if it is a liquid clutch, drain all the fluid out, use a low pressure air line to blow any contaminates out of the pipes. then replace the fluid with new fluid and bleed the system till all the air is out. if it is a cable clutch, check the inner cable for fraying,if it is not frayed then lubricate it with a light oil.

pls put in engine oil relief from friction

sounds like the clutch isnt engaging at all...is there a different sound in engine rpm when car is at idle and the clutch is pressed and released? Check clutch cable.
