No That can.t be done. I don't think Harley even sells replacement rod sets. S&S rods will not work on Harley crankpins.

No you can NOT split the flywheels on that model without damaging the case half and the wheel. rebuilding a bottom end is really best left to the professionals anyhow no offense but a Harley will run as loose as well almost falling apart but they will NOT tolerate being to tight when they go back together and the 2004 XL models were an all new creation for that year with lots of special tools. I wouldnt risk it, that would be one best left to an honest shop.

Have a 1999 fatboy with a bad vibaration something with the flywheel

Usually with a flywheel caused vibration problem, it's because one of the two flywheel halves shifted, causing an unbalanced condition.
This is what the flywheel assembly (with connecting rods) looks like:
https://www.sscycle.com/product/secure/images/products/5036.jpg
Usually, the left side shifts, as dropping the clutch acts almost like a brake on that side of the flywheel, while the right side continues to run free.
While I can't diagnose your particular problem from here, if the flywheels do need rebalancing/aligning, the engine cases have to be split to get to them.

My flywheel on my 01 sporty 1200c went out, do i need a brand new flywheel and do I need a spicific flywheel or could I use any flywheel?

If your flywheel went out, you've got major problems. You must have the correct flywheel for our bike. You cannot use a flywheel for an earlier model, it must be one designed for the Evo Sportster engine. Now, you can get a complete aftermarket flywheel from someone like S&S maybe. But, it still must be specifically for your bike.

I have a yamaha 660 rhino and split the crank to change the rod. How do I line both halfs back up when I press it back together. There are no markings to assist in trueing the crank back together after I...

hi, in this situation when replacing a conrod you should make your markings before disasembly, by using a straight edge and a scriber, by marking the face of each flywheel of the crankshaft, from left to right, i would suggest in this case, you get your crank halfs as close as you can to aligned by eye, press the fitted pin and rod about 3-5 mm into the mateing flywheel and recheck realignment, it is most inportant you that this as acurate as poss as misalignment will cause damage, have you taken any measurments of assembled crankshaft width? another important factor, when pressing the 2 halfs together, press the crankshalf half with the fitted pin into the other half, with the fitted half upwards so you are pressing on the pin and not the crankshaft, when you press make sure the pin enters the hole as true as poss as you will push a new hole or elongate the hole making it unusable. when almost together use a feeler gauge between the thrust washer and crankshaft of about 0.40mm when pressure is felt on the blade stop pressing, as you have now gone far enough, final truing up can be done with the use of a dti gauge and some v blocks, if out of alignment, you can use a copper hammer holding the crankshaft in your hand and quickly striking 1 flywheel in the direction required to align it, avoide striking it by pre drilled holes, paul

I have a 1992 sportster 1200 xlh and need to know how the connecting rods are suppose to set in the flywheel. also need to know which side the spline on the flywheel should be

The connecting rods are known as "knife and fork" rods in that one rod sits inside the other at the crankpin. The "knife" rod goes to the front cylinder. The "spline" shaft you're talking about is called the "sprocket shaft" and goes to the left (primary drive) side of the engine. Try this site.

How too replace connecting rod on a ttr 125l. I have a 2001 ttr 125 with a seized conn big bearing. and I would like to know the proper way of splitting the crank too replace it

The top end comes off then the left and right side covers, flywheel, clutch and shift shaft. Now a case splitter is used to split the center case halves. To replace the bearing you will need a hydraulic press to disassemble and reassemble the crank halves. If the bearing is seized you should replace the bearing, crank pin and the connecting rod. The crank must be realigned using twin dial gages. Personally, I suggest a new crank assembly be purchased from www.babbittsonline.com ( $241 ). I would replace the crank end bearings at the same time and also the sprocket shaft outer bearing and seal. Please rate my answer.

How do I take off the Magneto off a 2003 Yamaha 125

If replacing the piston pin bearing no splitting is needed. If replacing the crank pin bearing splitting is needed. You knew that I am sure but I had to clarify. The flywheel is held in place with one washer and a nut on the end of the crank. Timing is accomplished with a woodruff key on the shaft. Using a flywheel puller tool is the proper method. It is a simple and low cost tool and it sounds like you have enough knowledge of engines to need one now and in the future. In a worst case scenario, use a mallet, striking the flywheel on four points around the perimeter of the wheel and in an "outward" direction. With some luck the flywheel will pop loose.

When you are purchasing the flywheel puller, buy a case splitter also. Also reasonably low cost, it makes the splitting clean and easy. I strongly suggest you install new crank bearings and seals. Whatever caused the crank pin bearing to go bad did not do the crank main bearings any good either. I would hate to see you have to split the case again eight weeks from now.

How are you planning to separate the crank halves, re-assembly and truing of the crank? The dealer should do this part. I can't find a free repair manual on the web but the next best is a parts diagram. Go to the site below where you can see a parts diagram for your specific bike. You will select the actual brand, year, model, etc., once you go to the site. Part numbers and prices are also shown. You can order parts from this site. In the event no price is shown on a particular part, the part is not in stock.

I am considering replacing the entire crank assembly. any tips?

You will need a flywheel puller you can purchase from denniskirk.com or other mc tool outlet. This is a must tool. Otherwise you can do the job with simple hand tools such as wrenches, allen wrenches all metric of course, and a rubber mallet. It will take about two hours to disassemble. your crank will have to be rebuilt by a shop with a crank jig and a press. the halves must be aligned perfectly. then wash everything very good make sure you have all the exploded bearing cleaned out then make sure again, and reassemble. best wishes!
