I'm not familiar with all quads and all the kill switch locations. Does it have a tip-over kill switch? Is it working? Is the quad in neutral? Is the neutral light on? Many engines will not spark if the neutral light is not on. Are the headlights off when starting?

How good is your battery? A low battery can kill spark. Test for spark by grounding the threads of the plug against the cylinder. Have a friend kick the bike while you watch for spark. Assuming no spark, then check all the kill switches with an Ohmmeter to be sure each switch is working properly. Sometimes a switch goes bad. Try disconnecting all kill switches then check spark.

Check the wiring harness, even under the gas tank and seat. Are all the connectors clean and with a tight connection? Any abraded wires? Check the ignition switch also. The switch can go bad as well. Are the flywheel coils good > is the battery getting a charge?

Still no spark? If CDI then get it checked.
If points then file or replace them along with a new condensor and reset the gap then time the engine. >> I hope this helps.

To the fellow with the big bear , i reciently sold one with the same problem, the problem was tracked down to the source coil, basically the internal parts consist of 3 major components, the stator, the pick up coils, (yes mine had 2) and the source coil. Unfortunatelly i found that they all had to be purchase in one package as the wiring is intrigrated together, did find that the pickup coils could be purchased separately however that requires a harness splice. The source coil provides the current to fire the coil, hope this helps

Why does my 1999 Yamaha 250 bear tracker start up and then die automatically?

Sounds like a spark plug, then if its not that have the battery checked.

What do u do when spark is weak on Yamaha blaster

Check battery voltage, remove spark plug suppressor cap from HT lead and see if spark is good by holding lead in a gloved hand and placing the lead end near the engine. If spark good get a new suppressor cap. Check the plug shows a good spark in the new cap by holding the screw thread to the engine. Poor spark change spark plug. If you get a poor spark from the HT lead then get the ignition coil checked.

I got power to coil nothing comes out of coil

if you have power to the coil the only things that can be wrong are: -
1. the coil is duff.
2. The HT lead is broken.
3. the plug cap is duff, broken.

Remove plug cap and see if there is a spark from the wire core when the lead is placed near the engine/frame.

If it sparks OK replace the plug cap,. no spark means either the coil or the lead are duff. If you can replace the lead try testing again without the cap. Hope this helps.

I have a 1996 xj600 Yamaha. I 've been experiencing a engine miss fire. I checked for spark by pulling each plug and grounding them out on the block. Number 4 doesn't spark at all, so I replaced the plugs...

could be a bad wire or plug cap they have a resister in them, each coil fires two plugs, so if the other one works off that coil the cdi is probably ok.
pull the caps off and check the resistance from the plug wire back to the coil ground, they need to be the same, the wires are moulded into the coils so if one has high or open resistance-new coil required

If you are certrain there is power going into the coils and there is NO spark (remove a plug, ground it, with the ignition on, press the start button - observe there is NO spark at the plug) replace the coils.
