not the easiest job at home but if you have way to lift the car securely and tools not a problem.
first lift the car and secure.drain the oil.remove the exhaust pipe to clear the oil pan, remove the bolts from oil pan. between the motor and transmission is a small plate.remove the plate to access two more bolt from the oil pan. with big flat screwdriver pray the pan on the back side.you will find lip on block and the pan to insert the pray bar or screwdriver.clean the pan from old gasket.clean the block from old gasket. install new gasket on the pan and insert 4 screw to hold in place.on front of the engine is the timing cover connection.one drop of silicon will seal the gap.place the pan and drive the 4 screw 3-4 turns.install the rest ant slightly tight all across. (ask you auto store for silicone gasket. the old cork is not so good) .tight all screw again.don't over tight.stop if the gasket start to deform out of the pan.replace the oil filter. refill oil and start the car.check for leaks.
good luck.
OIL LEAK COULD BE COMING FROM OIL FILTER SEAL. OIL LEAK FROM THE REAR OF ENGINE COULD BE REAR MAIN OIL SEAL.LEAK IN THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE COULD BE FRONT CRANKSHAFT TIMING COVER SEAL LEAKING OIL.
I have the same car and the same problem. I can see the oil shooting out at the (upside down) rear, right side of the oil pan. This side of the oil pan is covered by a piece of plastic foam. There are no bolts on this side of the pan. Toyota recommends grey Formagaskit to seal the pan. The natural flow for this leak is all over the bell housing. The piece of plastic foam is attached to bell housing inspection cover. Good Luck!!!
have you checked the pcv valve and hose to see if motor vacuum is venting the pressure if not press. will build - could be causing your gasket leak problem?
This solenoid is underneath the vertical cover on the driver's side of the transmission. Since there are multiple solenoids under this cover, I suggest that you purchase the replacement solenoid prior to starting the job. That way, you will be able to identify the TCC solenoid from the others. Once the side cover is off the transmission, remove the electrical harness from the solenoid. The solenoid is secured with a "bobby pin" style clip. Remove the clip and pull the solenoid straight out. Charlie PS I would suggest that you also purchase a transmission filter kit (filter and pan gasket). Drop the oil pan on the transmission, replace the oil filter which resides above the oil pan, clean the oil pan & it's magnet and reassemble.
Go to a kaw. dealer buy a shop manual just like they use ,with step by step, pictures and tell you what to do next,or go to www.j&pcycle.com or to www.denniskirk.com , for a shop manual for your bike.
If by head covers you mean valve covers this is an easy fix just install a new set of valve cover gaskets, as this is a fairly common problem ( valve cover gaskets ). Just unbolt the valve covers and remove them then scrape off the old gasket and install the new ones and bolt the covers back on. This is a pretty easy job and the gaskets are less than $ 25.00. If it is the oil pan gasket you will needto drain the oil and unbolt the oil pan and remove it then clean off the old gasket and install the new one.
