05 katana 600f no spark!

The battery in the bike was dead and I jump started it off a car. When it started it would die under three thousand rpm ,i had to keep twisting the throttle to keep running.I went for a ride anyway.the bike died and I boosted it a couple times and got back home.Got new battery.the bike tries to idle now but still will die.kept riding, then my gauges went out,but went for cruise anyway.the bike died, I have no spark, and I found my fuse (linked to signal lights)Blown.I have power to the coils but no spark.

Sounds as if you have an issue with the charging system, try using a volt meter to determine if the bike is charging. To do so you will need to access the battery under the seat, with the bike running hook up the volt meter to the battery terminals, at idle you should have around 11volts when reving you should have around 13volts. If not you may have a bad stator or other electrical issues. good luck

I agree with John Cox I am having similar problems with my 81 GSX 400f after it has been sitting in the shed for a yr.I fitted a new battery but no charging. think it's my rectifier/ voltage regulator but am not sure how to check if rectifier is faulty with my multimeter?

Last year the Battery Died, once the Battery was replaced and charged(Using a trickle charger), the Bike has not turned back on. It clicks as if its trying to spark (like when a car needs to be jumped) but...

Hi, firstly you are probably rite about the clicking being related to a discharged battery, i would suggest you try some jump leads of a car or another battery my guess is it will start or turn over and the clicking will stop, suzuki motorcycles of this eara did have some charging probs, running with a discharged battery for a prolonged period is not recomended.
Secondly its not unusual for even a new battery to become low state even when left continuasly on chage with a trickle charger, and eventually the battery.becomes dead through overcharging

My 05 gsxr wont start

Check for spark first of all. If no spark, is the kill switch on? Is the side stand up? It should be up when starting. Is the bike in neutral? Check the fuses.

If spark is present, is the gas turned on? How clean is the air filter?
If the bike still will not start go ahead and drain the carbs. If your bike has a water trap bowl behind the gas valve then remove the bowl, clean and reinstall it.

Doing this should get you back on the road.
Please rate this solution. Thanks!
