I purchased a 2006 Harley Street Glide from and guy whom has installed aftermarket slipon pipes; however, from what I see, he has not changed the breather or the carb settings. The bike idles ruff and takes forever to warm up, it also hesitates at take off.
If i were you i would put an air cleaner kit on it. the screamin eagle one work fine. any time you open the exhaust you should open the air intake. it sould like you may have an intake leak they are very common.
spray the intake at the cylinder head with brake clean. ifno idle change. their good. if idle changes radically or dies out while spraying... you have an intake leak.

This is a 88 motor which is caberated, it's not EFI
Nope, I pulled both plugs and the are both white. However, I noticed the reflector on the front of the frame near the pipe has started to melt and there's also some bluing on the pipe coming from the front cylinder. This may be a normal thing, I think EFI corrects this issue; however, it's normally the rear cylinder that runs hot on carberated twins.
Thanks Mitchy123
White plugs means you're running hot... this can cause some real damage... try re jeting the carb...U need a larger jet...u are getting to much air and not enough fuel
pull the plugs - what do they look like ( blackish, brownish etc?)
on almost all th newer Harley's aftermarket pipes cannot be installed unless the baffles are installed because the fuel injection need back pressure not a free flow exhaust to run efficient
