The spark plug gap stays the same regardless of what you change other than the ignition system itself. Set your plug gap at 0.038"- 0.043". I usually set them to 0.035" to get a bit longer life out of them as long as the engine runs alright.

I have a 2001 FLSTC (carburated) that is not getting any spark to the plugs. Have tested plug wires and coil with ohm meter and they test within spec. I have also tried new spark plugs.

Looks like the ignition module or crank position sensor. Some carb models also have a cam position sensor. Get the trouble codes from the speedo and diagnose from these.

I have spark and fuel but no compression

Sounds like you've got a broken cam chain or cam drive gear. When the twin cam first cam out in 2000 for the softail, that was a major problem. I'm sure there was a recall on that and if your bike was never done, the recall is still good. Call the factory with your frame number handy and ask if the cam gear recall has been done on your bike. I had a guy get his ignition switch on a '94 model because his was under the recall and had not been done. You just may luck out.

Good Luck
