START WITH WHAT WAS ORIGINALLY IN THERE, MAYBE ONE HEAT RANGE HOTTER, RUN IT HARD SHUT IT DOWN AND CHECK YOUR COLOR TAN IS GOOD, MAYBE A LITTLE DARKER, BLACK IS TOO COLD, ALSO TOO RICH, WHITE IS TOO HOT

The spark plug gap stays the same regardless of what you change other than the ignition system itself. Set your plug gap at 0.038"- 0.043". I usually set them to 0.035" to get a bit longer life out of them as long as the engine runs alright.
