I changed my ,02 roadkings trans. fluid --only 16oz drained out --i had the bike level--put 20oz back in --no reading on dipstick--do you check oil with bike level or on stand--also do you measure level...

Check the level of the transmission lube with the bike standing straight up. The transmission holds between 20 and 24 ounces of oil. I always put 24 ounces in them. It should check on the dipstick without the dipstick screwed in. Do not overfill.

How do i check transmission fluid level

On the right side of the bike on the transmission, there is a chrome end cap. This is the clutch release mechanism. On top of it is a plug that takes a 3/8" hex key or Allen wrench to remove. Stand the bike up straight and take the plug out. It has a dip stick on it. Wipe it off and stick it back in the hole, don't screw it n. Take it out and the fluid level should be between the two lines. Your transmission holds 20-24 ounces of transmission lube. It came with H-D Syn 3, 20W50 engine oil in it.

How do you know when you need to change your transmission fluid in my 2002 ford explorer

This is in the owners manual pages 269 and 270. TRANSMISSION FLUID
Checking automatic transmission fluid (if equipped)
The automatic transmission does not have a transmission fluid dipstick.
Refer to your scheduled maintenance guide for scheduled intervals for fluid checks and changes. Your transmission does not consume fluid. However, the fluid level should be checked if the transmission is not working properly, i.e., if the transmission slips or shifts slowly or if you notice some sign of fluid leakage.
Transmission fluid should be checked and, if required, fluid
should be added by a qualified technician.
Do not use supplemental transmission fluid additives, treatments or cleaning agents. The use of these materials may affect transmission operation and result in damage to internal transmission components. Checking and adding manual transmission fluid (if equipped)
1. Make sure the vehicle is on a level surface or level hoist.
2. Clean the filler plug or dirt and debris.
3. Remove the filler plug and inspect the fluid level.
4. Fluid level should be at bottom of the opening.
5. Add enough fluid through the filler opening so that the fluid level is at the bottom of the opening.
6. Install and tighten the fill plug securely.
Use only fluid that meets Ford specifications. Refer to the Lubricant Specifications in this chapter.

Fluid capasities in a 2002 dyna twin cam. oil, trans, primary?

Engine oil - 3 qts
Primary oil - 34-42 oz.
transmission - 20-24 ounces.

The engine oil and the transmission oil both have dipsticks. Maintain the oil levels according to the dipstick indications. Each dipstick has two marks. The top mark represents "FULL HOT" while the lower mark represents "FULL COLD" . Check the engine oil with the bike on the side stand. Check the transmission oil with the bike standing straight up.

On the primary, check or add oil with the bike standing straight up. Do not overfill. The oil level should be no higher than the lowest edge of the clutch spring. If you put too much oil in the primary, the clutch will drag making it impossible to find neutral with the engine running.

I have a 2005 HD FLHTCUI does this bike have seperate engine oil and transmission fluids? If they are seperate how do I check the tranny fluid?

Yes, you bike has oil in three seperate areas. The engine, primary, and the transmission. I'm assuming you know how to check the oil level in your engine because you didn't ask. It's the large knurled cap on the corner of the transmission with the LONG dipstick.

To check you transmission. look for the chrome clutch release mechanism on the right side of the bike. If you can't find it, simply follow the clutch cable until you get to where it goes into the transmission, that's it. In that cover, there is a large plug that requires a 3/8" Allen or Hex key to remove. It has a dipstick on it. Keep the fluid level between the two marks. Check the level with the bike standing straight up.

To check the primary level, remove the derby cover and stand the bike straight up. The oil level must be no higher than the lowest point on the Clutch Spring. The aluminum outer clutch basket is made of bright aluminum, the clucth spring is a darker colored steel disc. Fill the oil no higher than the bottom of this disc. If you do, the clutch will drag and you will not be able to find neutral with the engine running.

Fluid levels. all

Enigne oil - The dipstick is on the corner of the transmission as the oil tank is on the bottom of the transmission. The dipstick has two marks on it. The upper mark is "FULL HOT", and the lower mark is "FULL COLD". Keep the oil level between the two marks when you check the oil with the bike on the sidestand.

Primary - Remove the derby cover and stand the bike straight up. The out cluch basket is made out of bright aluminum. Just inside is a dark colored round piece of metal. This is the clutch spring. The oil should be just to the bottom of this spring at it's lowest point. Do not overfill as it will cause the clutch to drag.

Transmission - On the right hand side of the bike on the end of the transmission is the clutch release mechanism. It is just behind the exhaust pipes and the clutch cable runs into it. On top of this cover, there's a plug that takes a 3/8" Allen or hex key to remove. Remove the plug and there's a dipstick on it. Keep the oil level between the two lines. Check the fluid level with the bike standing straight up.

I am currently looking at a 1993 dyna wideglide that is for sale and I am interested in buying. I have it at my house now and was wondering how to check that the fluid levels ie. primary, transmission, and...

To check the engine oil, the oil cap in on the right hand side of the bike, near the top front of the transmission. It's a knurled cap about an inch and a half in diameter. Pull it up and it'll have a long plastic dipstick on it. The stick is marked. The upper mark should be labeled "FULL HOT" with the lower mark being labeled 'FULL COLD". Check this oil level with the bike on the side stand.

The transmission dipstick is on the right side of the bike in the clutch release cover of the transmission. Follow the clutch cable back to find the chromed cover. It usually takes a 3/8" hex key or Allen wrench to remove. It too has two marks on it. Check this fluid with the bike standing straight up.

To check the primary, you must remvove the derby cover. The oil level should be no higher than the lower part of the clutch spring. You should be able to see the oil in the primary.

As for the value of the bike, it's worth whatever you're willing to pay for it. But, to get a better idea, call either your local Harley dealer or a bank that finances motorcycles and ask for the "Average Retail Value" of the bike. Also for the "Loan Value" of the bike. The "Loan Value" is how much the bank will finance on the bike. Don't pay over the ARV and try to get it for as close to the LV as possible unless the bike is exceptional in some way.

Where do I check the transmission fluid on a 1997 Hyundai excel

Remove Transmission Fluid Level Check
Locate and remove the transmission fluid level checker, in most cars and trucks this is where the fluid is checked and added.
1687565.jpg
Insert fluid funnel and add transmission fluid until the proper amount of fluid level is reached. Let engine warm and recheck fluid level, add fluid as needed. Do not over fill the transmission, it could foam the fluid and cause low fluid pressure causing premature transmission failure. recheck transmission for leaks and recheck fluid level in a couple of days.

DIAGNOSIS AND TEST FLUID LEVEL AND CONDITION
1. Park the vehicle on a level surface. 2. Before removing the dipstick, wipe all dirt from the area around the dipstick. 3. With the selector lever in "P" (Park) and the parking brake applied, start the engine. 4. The engine should be running at idle speed and the fluid should be at normal operating temperature [80-90°C (176-194°F)]. 5. Move the selector lever to every position to fill the torque converter and hydraulic circuit with fluid, then place the lever in the "N" (Neutral) position. This operation checks that fluid level check is accurate. 6. Check if the fluid level is in the "HOT" range shown on the dipstick. If the fluid is low, add automatic transaxle fluid until the level reaches the "HOT" range.
