30AMP FUSE KEEPS BLOWING WHEN I CONNECT THE BATTERY

PLEASE HELP.. I LET MY BATTERY RUN DOWN BY LEAVING THE LIGHTS ON TOO LONG WITHOUT THE ENGINE RUNNING. I CHARGED THE BATTERY UP ALL NIGHT AND WHEN I TRIED CONNECTING IT UP THE BATTERY WAS SPARKING WHEN I WAS PUTTING THE POSITIVE WIRE BACK IN AND THEN BLEW THE 30AMP FUSE.. I HAVE REPLACED THE FUSE AND TRIED CONNECTING THE BATTERY AFTER AND IT DOES THE SAME..?? while riding, just lost the lot, no lights, no horn, no nothing, so after getting towed home, I check battery, was ok, fuses all ok, then check main fuse 30 amp it was blown, so put new one in , same thing happened , were do i start??

    I have the same problem, I replaced the kick stand switch and the soleniod but that solved nothing. I pulled all the fuses but the ignition and it still blew so I figured it in the soleniod harness or the wiring to the computer. Have you had any luck yet?

    check all the wires for chafing... sounds like one of the wires has worn threw and is making contact with the frame.

Check the positive battery cable for abrasions all the way to the starter and also to the alternator. Your battery could have a short between one of the cells.

SOURCE: kawasai z750, keeps blowing main fuse

Hi,

To my knowledge, there are no onboard electrical/electronic components capable of shorting and blowing the fuse with out blowing any of the secondary fuse. The main fuse could possibly blow due to a short in the wiring or an exposed/frayed wire touching the body. The three most likely areas would be:

  • wire harness leading to the regulator;
  • wire harness leading to the fusebox; and/or
  • wire harness leading to the ignition switch.
Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

Ok, locate and check the fuse at the starter solenoide, this is the main power fuse, follow the red battery lead until you locate the solenoide, here you should find under a cover a 30 amp fuse, hope this helps , paul

Voltage regulator fuse keeps blowing on my 98 ford explorer

Well I looked at the wiring diagram and I did not see a 30amp fuse.
There is a 15amp, a 7.5 amp, and the two fuseable links between the battery and the alternator. Thats not to say a 30amp fuse for the charging system does not exist, but its not in the standard diagram.
Do you have battery power on the large alternator post when the key switch is off ? And do you have power on the lite green and red wire when the key switch is on ?
