Have you checked the cable's internal cable? Unscrew one end at top, spin front wheel-...the inner cable should rotate easily..

The speedo drive sender is very common failure on these bikes following any maintenance involving the front wheel removal (like tire replacement)
The speed sensor is located on front axle on the right side of the wheel
The magnetic rotor gets broken because the drive detent is not properly engaged duing re-assembly.
Fortunately the replacement is relatively inexpensive and reasonably easy to replace if you are careful to engage the drive properly when re-installing wheel. Insert the drive into the wheel before bringing wheel up to forks and inserting axle.

On my 1993 S10 when I turn on the ignition speedometer jumps up to 3 mph changed speed sensor is there a ground wire somewhere to be cleaned

Electronic analogue speedos and tachos often can be seen to jump up a bit at switch on - they would usually be resting on the lower needle stop and then jump to zero when the ignition is switched on.

My Mercedes speedo jumped up above zero and I just took it out of the dashboard and removed the pointer and refitted it at zero. My satnav verified the speedo as being acceptably accurate...

The old fashioned cable driven speedos often didn't begin to register until 5 mph.

If it is a digital speedo you will need to approach the dealer about calibration.

How to check speed sensor on 1999 Subaru forester

if abs is failed light off speed sensor is fine. if on and no speedo then its the sensor. if no abs light and no speedo then the problem is from the abs unit to the ecu to the speedo and any other device in line, like sunroof etc as the signal is though there. also to rule out speed. speedo should jump a bit back when power is turned on from ignition if not then its between the connection to the dash and speedo. sensor is on passide for speedo and abs.

1989 Honda Accord speedometer not working. What is a speedo head?

The speedo head or cluster is the part that houses the speedometer and tach, etc. now it may be the speedo cable that comes from the transmission to the speedo head that has broken. If so replace the cable and your back in business. If it is the head you can get them from your local recycle yard.

inspect the throttle valve control rod. there could be a small part that has worn out, usually made of plastic and the size of a dime. if this part is missing out worn out it will make the trans shift at the wrong time. it happened to my lincoln once and i thought the trans was going out.

Simon 3 Wrong Voice Prompts...

check both the batterys voltage and that of the transformer for the corect voltages. a good 12 volt battery should read above 13 volts also check the charging voltage to your battiery by disconnecting one leg of the battery and see what you read across the read and black leads. it sounds like a power problem.
