choke wide open means choke is off. you need choke on (closed) to create a fuel rich condition when starting it from cold. you might have it backwards in your mind.

99 FXDWG, Choke cable broke, bike stalled then wouldn't start. I fixed the choke cable but bike still won't start. Any ideas?

"Crank" and "turn over" mean exactly the same thing. I think you mean it won't "fire". How did your choke cable break on the highway? You shouldn't have been pulling (closing) the choke at that point - does that ride have other issues?

It might be flooded now - try letting it sit for several hours, then try starting with the throttle WIDE OPEN and no choke - that helps clear extra gas out of the cylinders.

You might also need to pull the spark plugs and dry them out thoroughly.

My 1996 VF 750 C Magna starts fine with the choke open. After a minute or so as I reduce the choke and try to open the throttle, the engine just stalls out. Cannot seem to get the throttle to control

I think you are mixed up. The choke is usually closed to start a cold engine and opened once the motor warms up. The choke is closed to restrict the air flow and make the mixture richer in fuel. You can't open a choke that's already open. It's stalling because it's starved of fuel. Either a blockage or the fuel pump is not supplying enough gas.

I have a 2003 ttr225 I can get the bike to start with the choke on ihave to let it warm up for an extremly long time before I can push in the choke . once the bike is warm and I hit the throttle hard ,...

Sounds like the idle circuit in the carb is restricted. The engine is running on the choke only. When the engine reaches a certain temp the fuelthat does get is more readily burned allowing you to back off the choke. The choke probsbly can't be completely opened? right? Fuel quality is also something to consider Oil content in fuel affects combustion temps and volatility. _good luck_Ned_

Bike will not idle without the choke fully wide open and takes a Lon time to warm up

The jets/passageways in the carb are likely plugged with bad gas, hence it will run with the choke on. Common problem with the 10% ethanol gas.

A fterI warm up my 01 rm 250 my bike don't start

Possibly the choke is getting stuck internally, Even thoug the leaver may be in the closed (normal) position, it may be sticking internally. Try removing the choke and cleaning the passage with some carb cleaner, then replace the lever. The bike could run with a partially cloged choke but would be tough to start when warm due to too much fuel. Another thing to check, when it is hard to start, just after kicking it over a few times, remove the spark plug and see if it is wet with gas. My guess is that's it's soaked. Good luck.

2001 mercedes c240 has a really rough start but when the car almost dies I turn the car off wait 3 seconds and it starts perfect. Next comes the issue with having to warm it up before driving anywhere...

Gasoline- thank you. Warm up is not an issue like diesel is. Sounds like the choke is is either wide open or over choking. With the engine cold, remove the air cleaner and note where the plate is at the opening of the carb. If it is wide open then without touching anything else and engine not running, step down on the gas pedal and see if the choke plate reset itself to restricter the carb inlet. If it didn't, then take some WD 40 and spray the linkages and the rod ends holdin the choke plate.By hand work the plate and linkage holding the gas open at the carb. Then set the plate to wide open and do the gas pedal thing agan to see if choke sets itself back to restricting the carb intake. If it does, start the engine and as the engine warms upm the choke plate should start opening on its own and you are off and running. Roitine question. Is your air cleaner clean? If the choke plate needs adjusting. get back to me. K? Good luck Remember to press the gas pedal down once before cranking. That sets the choke for cold start. Hope this helped you Good luck Note, the WD40 won't hurt anything but avoid spraying with engine running or when engine is hot..

Wont run /idle

i'd start with removing the carbs and giving them a thorough cleaning as when bikes sit for so long, the carbs begin to get gummy/varnished from the old gas.

check for blocked holes in the pilot jet & main jet and look for "hard & dried up" gas in passages. be careful of the float bowl gasket as to not tear it or you will need a replacement.

Bike wont idle and power constantly dieing and recovering

check to see if you have gas in the oil from a carb leaking down which will cause the idle speed to drop when motor warms up.pick up idle run for awhile then plugs foul.like you said a carby problem.
