Honda Melody Mini NP50D scooter - electrical issue?

I have a 1984 Honda Melody Mini NP50D scooter. If I have the headlight on and use the brakes, the headlight dims as the brake light comes on. Similarly, if using the indicators they will stop flashing when the brake light is on, or when using the headlight & indicators at the same time the headlight dims as the indicators light and brighten again when they are in the 'off' state. Would a new battery solve this?
BTW put this in category as Honda CB1 only because I had to choose something :)

If teh lights get brighter and the signals blink faster as you rev up the engine. then I would say you need to replace the battery

Kymco Mini 4 Mobility Scooter. When I press the accelerator something clicks, then when I let go clicks again, at the back. Any ideas please?

Question edited for clarity, formatting and typo.
Question moved from BMW Mini Cars to Kymco Mini.

Nothing to worry about. When you are pressing the accelerator to are in fact operating a relay that applies power to the electric motor, and it clicks On. When you let go to Decelerate, it clicks Off. A relay is a magnetically operated switch that uses a small amount of volts and amps, to magnetically close the contacts on a switch that has a lot more amps (current). If it wasn't for the relay, the accelerator switch would wear out very quickly.

This is the relay, a bad image but they are over $100

And a better image, $14 (12.98 Euros) on eBay!

Hi I'm just wondering can anybody help I have a pure electric E scooter 500-watt I changed the front brake lever and now the back wheel has locked up any ideas

It sounds like there may be an issue with the brake system of your electric scooter. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the problem:
  1. Check the brake cable and make sure it is properly connected and adjusted.
  2. Check the brake pads for any damage or wear, and replace if necessary.
  3. Locate the brake mechanism and see if there is any visible damage or obstruction that may be causing the wheel to lock up.
  4. Try loosening the brake cable and then tightening it again to see if it resolves the issue.
  5. If the issue persists, consider taking the scooter to a professional repair shop for further assistance. It's important to make sure the brakes are working properly for your safety while riding the electric scooter.

When I apply the front or back brake the starter

Somewhere the wiring harness is abraided and the power from the brake light is shorting with the wire going to the starter. Locate the abraided wires and fix the problem. There is a good chance the abraided wires are inside the headlight housing.

1984 Accord parking/dash lights will not stay on when headlights are on. If tweak switch just right, can turn parking/dash lights on by themselves. Can you just replace the rod switch, and not the entire...

Not from the dealer, the part is called a combo switch, meaning it is a headlight switch and a wiper switch - one unit. I don't think is possible to take the switch apart without destroying it.

1983 Honda CB550 Electrical Issue

sounds like a poor ground issue, pull out the headlight and check all connections in there, your turn signals are on seperate feeds than the lights but they will probably share the same ground/earth in the headlight
