Hi,

If you have recently serviced the bike, make sure that you have used the correct grade of motor oil.

Alternately, it is necessary to adjust the valve clearances at regular service intervals

I have a 93 ford escort lx. it has started to have a rough idle and a valve chatter. have replaced timing belt and the coil pack and starter. checked for a blocked catalydic converter. nothing is help

Valve chatter sounds pretty serious. Replacing coil pack won't help. I would check compression, if low, squirt a little oil in the plug holes, and if compression doesn't come up, bad valves.
You might need to check/set valve timing again, too.

Valve chatter and rough idle

Sounds like a Timing Belt ready to go! Fix it before you bend the valves!

Valves chattering

Your oil level too low would cause that.

As im driving my bike the clatter comes in around 3000 rpm and gets louder ans faster as i gain rpm. could it need valve adjustment? or what kind of problem does it sound like im having. its a 99 yamaha r1

if its valve chatter you will hear it just under the valve cover pretty pronounced, but usually valve chatter gets quieter as the bike warms up, you might look into your cam chain adjuster those get loud and chatty at higher rpms.

Trx 850 battery wsa going flat had to charge to get going a couple of times.Sure enough it failed totally making the start relay chatter.Fit new battery still will not start bike is gettig fuel &...

Pull the spark plugs then go get a fresh set. The bike is probably flooding out. Clean the air filter then spray starting fluid into the filter. Be sure there is gas in the tank and the fuel valve is open.

1972 Honda CB750K2. Clutch started slipping at high speed (over 75mph). No noticeable slipping at lower speeds even when punching it through the gears. Also has a slight chatter when sitting in nuetral,...

hi,it sounds like your bike is just about due for a new set of clutch plates(my gsxr race bike did the same thing, put in new plates..problem gone),as far as the rattle or chatter this is normally caused by weak clutch springs or in some cases the clutch basket its self may be worn, not a big job to replace either, most clutch kits come with new fibre plates ,new steel plates and new springs, fit a new kit in the bike and i think most if not all your problems will disappear...cheers

04 crf 250r.... the head has a chattering noise when running

Any chance the valve spring has collapsed? Cam shaft thrust washers missing? Cam shaft bearing gone bad?

Engine ticks

You need to get your valves adjusted. When an engine is new, all your parts are not worn. As time goes on, mechanical parts break down. your valves are riding on your camshaft, and eventually wear down. You need to re-shim your valves to maintain the clearance that it had when it was new. You can do it yourself, but you are better taking it to a mechanic. They have the right tools. Shouldn't cost too much. This is a common procedure. Dirt bikes have this same problem, mostly because of the high RPMs and engine break-down is more rapid.

Starting chatter

Check the ring gear on the clutch basket to make sure the teeth are all in good condition. Check the starter clutch and armature assembly and make sure that the teeth inside aren't chewed up.
