SOURCE: top of final gear there is a knob where oil is leakin

" Top of final gear ", If you mean the output sprocket then the oil seal needs to be replaced. Not a big deal to do. If the knob you refer to is on top of the gearbox then you probably are referring to the crankcase breather tube. A bit of oil here is normal especially as a bike gets older. Blow-by from the cylinders goes into the crankcase and the out the breather tube. The only way to stop the oil is to bore the cylinders and put in new pistons and rings.

SOURCE: Change oil in 2004 Yamaha V Star 1100 Classic, procedure?

i think the oil filter is at the front behind a round finned cover, if you find the drain plug it should be right above it, it shoud tell you how much oil it takes right next to the filler

10w40 or 10w 50. Either will do fine.

SOURCE: I recently added a kuryakyn hypercharger on my sportster

The worm clamp proly did choke off the breather. Usually when oil comes out of your breathers it means there is to much oil in your oil tank.

What is the oil capacity of the 2006 roadstar silverado?

The Road Star takes 4.3 qts which is 4.07 liters.

In my experience, MOST Yamaha engines have the oil capacity stamped either near the oil filler cap, or if it has one, near the fisheye inspection glass.

The best advice I have seen to date states the following: Having replaced and tightened the drain plug, remove the dipstick and puur in half the oil. Note that this bike has an oil tank, so having added 2 litres or so, put the dipstick back in and tighten it. Start the bike and allow it to run for around 15 seconds to allow the oil to pump from the oil tank to the engine crankcase. Shut the bike off and add the remaining oil before replacing the dipstick again and checking for leaks.

Hope this helps. Please rate this solution

How much oil goes in the final drive

With the motorcycle upright and level, fill the final drive to the bottom of the threads on the fill plug.

Final drive is leaking

Yes, more than likely the oil has been over filled. Try to drain and refill with the correct quantity.
