SOURCE: Question about Vance and Hines quiet baffles

about 3-5db but you must remember db is not a linear scale but logirythmic. basicallyy the baffles will remove the harsh rasp off the pipe and make them deep in sound, when cold they will be as loud as normal but once they have some heat in them they quieten down

SOURCE: Vance and Hines

Whenever I have a question about an aftermarket part - I contact the manufacturer, they are very helpful, but to answer your question, In general, if u get the correct part for your model bike, it should mount the same as the OEM part you;re replacing

SOURCE: put on vance and hines slips...did not rejet..

You MUST rejet the bike!!! When cold or warming up the bike should be running in a rich mode. After it warms up you are running lean. Cheaper to rejet than replace "hole in the top of pistons".
To help prevent more problems in the future, find who ever told you that rejetting was not required, turn them around, take your right foot and kick their @#$. This could save you lots of grief and $$ in the future.

SOURCE: I've made some minor changes on my '05 softail

Put gauge on fuel rail and see what pressure does.Does it drop when engine quits? Fuel pump may be bad. This is realy off the wall but..Computers have engine protection modes. It gets code of engine danger, like low or no oil pressure and it shuts engine down before it blows. What kind of code would too much oil send?May have to clear and reset computer.Told you this is off the wall.lol Sorry I can't be of help.

2006 Honda Shadow aero 750 Problems starting

If the problem start after putting Vance & Hines Pipes, then try to sync the carbs, if not possible (meaning turning the sync screw all the way and cant sync them), reJet the carbs with 1up, slow and main Jet.

Whats the best after market slip on pipe for both power increase and a nice sound...i have been looking at a very reasonably priced Vance and Hines S4 for just $249?

Vance and hines is always a good choice of pipe, the nice thing about vance and hines is that you can back out the hex bolts on the back of the muffler and repack it when it gets old, or unpack it if you want it louader. Makes it quite tunable. I had a vance and hines 4-1 on my CBR 1000 and I was very satified. The price you are mentioned is good too. The V&E I had on my bike had a good sound at idle and rev and sounded awesome when I tached the bike up.

2009 1200 low harley..pipe turns red after 2 min of running

If you did not adjust your EFI (load a different MAP) then you are leaning the bike way out! This is very bad as the bike will often run at an AFR of 14.0+. do not run the bike until you get the fuel adjusted!! You will void the warranty!!!

2003 Honda VT 750 DCB Shadow Spirit. Have Vance

Be sure to properly oil the K&N filter after you've cleaned it. Then verify that the jetting is correct by operating at full throttle (only for as long as safe conditions will allow) then stop the engine and look at the color of the spark plugs. White coloration of the plugs = too lean. Dark spark plugs = too rich. A nice tan or light brown color = perfect.
Running with jetting that's too rich, or too lean, can both cause driveability problems, poor performance and reduced spark plug life.
While you're in there, inspect the spark plug caps for damage, cracking, and signs of electrical 'leakage' (carbon tracking which are conductive, visible lines running down the length of the cap, inside or out). Replace any plug caps that look suspicious. Tip: WD-40 works as a great, non conductive cleaner for plug caps and high tension leads.

I have a 2004 volusia with vance and hines exhaust but has not been jetted. will jetting increase or decrease my fuel mileage

It could decrease it slightly since more fuel is going to the cylinders. It would be very little if any difference. Also, if the bike still runs fine after changing the pipes, rejetting is optional. Some pipes don't change exhaust flow enough to require rejetting. They say it adds power and throttle response, but from years of experience, I have only noticed a difference on a few bikes.

2007 night train vance & hines pipes & fuel pack w/K&N air filter. Just discovered oil on top of rear cylinder

It probably isn't oil, it's more than likely fuel mixed with carbon due to running too rich. check your settings on the fuel pak.

Clicking noise inside engine, after turnoff

If you have recently changed your pipes on this bike it will make a clicking sound up by the motor Mine does the same thing until the pipes cool off. I have an 02 flstc. My pipes were changed over to Vance and Hines over two years ago and they still click when they are hot.

Will a Vance & Hines Supersport Exh from a FZR750 work on a 1000

I don't know if separate headers were available, but if you can get the pipes to fit and seal so there is no noisy blow-by, any loss in performance would hardly measure.
