that sounds like a fuel delivery problem. either the filter is clogged or the pump is not delivering the right pressure. i assume you have no check engine light. this would not set one but other problems like sensors would. being 11 yrs old i would not be surprised if the fuel pump was worn out. good luck
All late model vehicles have built in Rev Limiters to prevent catastrophic destruction from no load over speed of the engine. Check with your dealer Service Manager to find out what RPM your engine is governed to.
Have the alternator tested. You are providing a low charge to the battery when you jump it and when taking it above 2K RPM requires more amperage resulting in the engine dying and the rough idle
