I have 1986 FJ1200 that quits as if runing out of gas and will restart after cooling off. Originally problem was in hot weather. Currently will do in 60 degree. Usually miles between stops will get shorter and shorter.I have 1986 FJ1200 that quits as if runing out of gas and will restart after cooling off. Originally problem was in hot weather. I know this is an old post, but better late than never! My FJ 1200 did the same thing. The fix was simple but took a long time to figure out. There's an air vent in the gas cap that malfunctions, causing negative pressure (vacuum) to build up in the tank causing fuel starvation. The solution is to disassemble the cap and remove the tiny orange rubber pieces. They serve no real purpose but to cause your engine to die.I know this is an old post, but better late than never!
