2000 Buick LeSabre fuel level gauge in dash does not accurately show level of fuel. Gauge will float up and down failing to give accurate read. There is no other problem other than what was mentioned. Fuel from tank flows without problems.

fuel sending unit is faulty needs replaced unfortunatly you will be forced to buy the entire fuel pump (module). they are not cheap.

sounds like you probably need a fuel level sender. it's located in the trunk on the right hand side attached to the fuel pump. I got one on ebay for about 20.00, but you might as well replace the fuel pump while you're at it, as it can go bad with time.

The sender unit has a fine resistance wire with a slider to read the level, the slider or wires are worn and making intermittent contact, the low fuel light is a seperate switch so it will still work.access to the sender is usually under the rear seat cushon, under the soundproofing and a cover, have a look and describe what you have .

this is the sensor problem which is palced in the fuel tank which senses how much fule is present inside it.
the connection to the sensor may be lose so it is not giving proper reading and erratic.
