I have a 2002 kawasaki prairie 650. i think i have a blown head gasket on the rear cyclinder. how can i be sure it is a blown head gasket?

I have the same problem with a 2003 Kawasaki 650 Prairie 4x4 ATV 4 wheeler. The bike got hot due to loss of coolant. It melted the recoil starter cover. The engine runs fine but I am getting antifreeze in the oil. Compression test indicates 50 psig on both cylinders. Good according to book. No antifreeze evident in either cylinder. Cooling system indicates bubbles when engine running with no cap. Checked cooling system thoroughly and found no evidence that there was any problems. TStat is set at 160 degf and working well along with cooling fan. Pulled both cylinder heads and found no head gasket leaks. Inspected both heads for cracks and found no problem. Heads are not warped. What do I look for next?.

Check the seal behind your water impeller there are o rings back there if one of them goes bad you will leak antifreeze into oil, your impeller is run by the oil pump i believe, you should not see oil in the water also your bike will run fine but when hot will foul the plug with water look for white smoke sometimes and the smell of anti freeze on start up
i have a 400 4x4 doing the same thing new piston rings and top end now lossing water but runs great oil looks real thin
took to the dealer to fix this week will let you know how i make out.

Just had this problem 700 prairie. Did you sink it? I ended up with radiator fluid in the oil and then started white smoke out of exhaust, plugs fouled and had a slight watery resedew on plugs, the rad fluid sounded like it would boil in reservoir. Would not pump coolant like it was suppose to so I Bought new head gaskets for 40 dollars and changed myself, now have no problem .

Hi, is there oil in the water? or are there any bubbles, leaks or noises coming from the head gasket? is there a major power loss?

On 1989 Kawasaki 650 Sx jet ski: I hooked up water to engine with in-line hose connection, turned water on and ran it. It misses at mid to high speed/rpm and sometimes runs just fine. I check plugs and...

Always keep the water pressure low, when the water coming out of the side of machine is cold you should turn down pressure. Engine on first then water, water turned off then wait 10 seconds and turn off machine. If you go out on a ride then park it for say an hour and find water in cylinders I would replace gasket. My shop time on all the J series engines is 20 minutes for head gasket.
