2005 CRF450R Hard to start and wont idle

Bike was running great a few days ago. Now its very hard to start and I have to pin the throttle to start it now. Once i start it it runs great at low speeds as well as high but it wont idle unless i turn up the idler and then when i shut it down its still hard to start even when its warm. I changed the spark plug and checked the compression everything seems fine. I know nothing about valves but everything looks and feels tight?????

I emptied the old fuel and checked the fuel filter inside the tank and put new gas. also used right spark plug and gapped it correctly. Problem started before changing spark plug.

did the problems start soon after a fill up with gas?

did you use the right spark plug and gap it as required? did the problem start after changing out the spark plug?

how does the air fiter look?

i have the exact same problem on my 05 CRF450x. except for checking the valve clearance, i did everything; air pilot, pilot jet, main jet, drain jet, jet needle, cleaned the whole thing twice, replaced the fuel, changed the spark plug (NGK IFR8H11).

    nothing changed...:-(

Hi
I would suggest that you have the valve clearances checked.

Also, check that the carb is clean. Pay particular attention to the PILOT JET as this opperates the idle circuit.

2004 waverunner fx cruiser, ran great last time out. Now hard to start and wont run on high speed. Nothing over 6 mph.

How old is the fuel? Ethanol causes major problems if left too long. You may need to empty the fuel and clean out the fuel system. Try changing the fuel filter and adding some seafoam to the fuel and running seafoam thru the fuel system. Hopoe this helps.

Will not start

If the bike only run when choke is on you may have have a plug metering jet. Small jet located in the carb body near the main jet.
Jet could have unscrewed from carb due to vibration.

2005 Rmz250 wont start when hot.

YOUR BIKE HAS A POWER VALVE (DIAPHRAM FUEL PUMP) THAT GIVES A SHOT OF GAS EACH TIME THE THROTTLE IS TWISTED. WHEN THE BIKE IS HOT, IT FLOODS EASILY. DON'T HIT THE THROTTLE WHEN STARTING THE BIKE WHEN THE ENGINE IS HOT.
