SOURCE: engine knocking

Hi ...... If your crank, bearings/shells or crankcases have 'gone' it could be very expensive. I would suggest contacting breakers or specialist companies like Partfinders and enquire as to availability of low mileage bottom ends or complete engines. Use what you can from yours then sell any remaining servicable parts you have on Ebay.

Why is there oil in my throttlebody

blown head gasket or oil valve guides are shot or your piston rings could be damaged becouse your oil is bypassing the rings getting into the throttle body intake or the head gasket is blown and the oil is bypassing into the intake as well so you might as well do a engine overall rebuild and replace with new parts so if you are going to do the top end you might as well for a few dollars more do the bottom end as well or you can replace the engine with one that dont have leaks or problems just make sure if you are to get another engine make sure it runs and theres no oil smell or to much gas smell from the end of the exeust pipe just check that and look for any blue smoke or black smoke and not to grey of a smoke ok if there is water dripping out slow drip its a great running engine like its brand new that means it was well taking care of no abuse on the engine if you see water dripping from the end of the exoust pipe ok well i hope i had help you out with your question problems i do know these things and have great holidays as well !

Was driving on highway when check gauges light came on on the oil pressure gauge bottomed out. got it pulled over and sat fora bit, put 2 quarts of oil, pressure came back up but my engine has a major know...

are you saying a major knock sound like from bottom of engine? yes if this is what your saying, then it sounds like you may have spun a rod bearing and if thats the case, this engine is already done and further driving will just tear up more stuff if you plan to rebuild engine.

Ticking noise from under engine and when stopped oil indicator comes on but goes off when accelerate, 71,000 miles have read horror stories about possibly having to replace engine due to sludge, any help...

It would seem you have damgad crankshaft bearings. If so the ticking noise you hear should be louder on acceleration and can be better described as a knock. On an engine with your mileage it is a little early but is normally caused by infrequent servicing.
The engine can be repaired but it has to come out. On a tight budget a crank resize and oversize bearings will sort it out in the short term. Unfortunately if the bearings have failed then the pistons and liners are probably also worn out. This can also be repaired but you will have to shop around (as listed below) as to what solution is best for your budget.
  • New engine will be most expensive but will last longest.
  • 2nd hand engine(or just the bottom end aka block) vs bottom end rebuild.
  • Complete 2nd hand engine.
If the rest of the vehicle is still in good shape I'd go for a new engine or a complete rebuild. (The rebuild is cheaper, but does not last quite as long, depending on the mechanic, engineering shop and quality spares used)
A 2nd hand engine may be in the same condition as yours.

Blown head gasket. will rebuilt .uch pressure on pistons and rings, causing failure

The conventional wisdom is that this is a possibility with high mileage engines. But the option of just rebuilding the head versus the entire engine would make the choice easy for me -- I'd rebuild the head... I would say the probability that a new head would damage the engine is kinda low.
