2001zx6 runs fine for a few miles then start sputtering. if i come to a stop it will kill. what could be the issue

There are two solutions to your problem. First remove and disassemble the switch housing. Clean and adjust the switch contacts. Reassemble and reinstall the switch housing. Second, tale it to a shop.

SOURCE: No power in first and second gear

try adjusting the needle jet on the top of the carb down one setting this will raise the needle when getting in the throttle. Altitude has alot to do with this setting of the needle jet also. UM if this doesnt work try goin up one setting from original if this doesnt work the power valve may be malfunctioning till it gets lose and then works fine till cool down may be sticking.

If it was stored with fuel in the tank:

1. The fuel filter should be replaced
2. You may to replace the fuel delivery system coming out of the tank
3. Remove the plug in the carb and reset the idel mixture

I just bought one store for 6 years - my issue is the bike will n ot idel but runs on the road like a bat out hell.

SOURCE: Clutch problem

check the level of the clutch fluid in your resevoir, maybe a slow leak that is allowing the chutch to release. When was the last time the fluid was changed?

SOURCE: Shuts off spits and sputters

Check for vacume leaks first. Rubber lines..gaskets to carbs ect. Also remove and blow out your fuel line to tank and change out filter. Hope this helps.:)
