Not sure about the postion of the missing teeht and valve timing

Hello,
Maybe you can help, my douchters frient have overhole his 748 engine and I looked somtimes to help.
Now I am not sure about the position of the missing teeth in the cam gear in relation of the camshafts for the front cylinder.
On this moment is are the missing teeth position 180 deg rotated from the ignition sensor, and the front piston on TDC on the begin of the combustion stroke.
Is this correct?
Thanks in advantage!!!
Regards,
Rien Brand

SOURCE: 749 stalling

You dealer should be able to fix this, probably under warrenty. I believe it's a TPS setting change. I "cured" mine by raising the idle, but it's gotten way better with miles. 15k now and it rarely stalls. These motors are pretty tight. Also, if I may, you still need to use the fast idle lever when cold starting...the slightly increased revs gets oil to the top end sooner, thus saving wear and tear on your valvetrain.

Diesel engine "loping"

I haven't played with too many diesels, but many cause of a miss are similar. If it doesn't miss all the time, then I think you can rule out a compression problem(at least as far as rings/piston/cylinder).You could have a valve sticking,or maybe a plugged injector. Not sure of a good way to figure out which cylinder is missing, maybe someone else could give you an answer to this on here.(You could check for a sticking valve by running it with the valve cover off,I suppose).

Some times junkyards can be your best resources for cheap parts. However I do not recommend some parts purchase from a junk yard.

1993 Honda Accord - Engine cranks, but engine doesn't start. I've checked just about everything, but not sure about timing. Fuel pressure: 40 psig Compression: 145 psig all cylinders Spark visible What am...

not sure about timing. whaddya mean not sure? remove distributor cap. have someone crank it. if the rotor in the distributor isn't turning, you've got a busted timing belt, maybe bent valves, i'm not sure if it's a non-interference engine. Timing belt $800. bent valves=new car.

748 dies 15 minutes into ride

as soon as I got down here the bike started dying about 15 to 20 minutes into a ride. This bike has never given me a single problem prior to moving. It seems like something electrical to me but I really have no idea where to begin. I'm guessing (wild shot in the air here) that some component is getting hot and failing. I could walk downstairs and start it up now and it would start fine and then fifteen minutes later it will die and not start until it has cooled down and sat for a bit. This has happened four times now. I keep it in the neighborhood since I am expecting it to shut down and I end up pushing it home. I've drained the gas and replaced it checked all of the connectors I could get my hands onto. I had some crud on the positive terminal that I could see glowing, so I cleaned all of that up. I'm planning to tear the engine down soon anyways, but I'd like to know what is causing this before I get started. If anyone has experienced this, I would appreciate any info. Thanks guys. Relevant Info: 1998 748 ~20k miles Sil 1/2 system, ITG filter, DP chip,You're throwing darts instead of troubleshooting. When the bike is dead, begin the diagnosis by determining which of the three required elements are missing; i.e., air, gas, or spark. Once you determine this, then systematically trace upstream from the engine, using a good shop manual which describes the systems. Most manuals, like Haynes or Clymers, have a troubleshooting section which may help you once the missing element is identified.,,,
