How do you get the gear sprocket off the back tire of a mongoose crossway 450 bicycle

To remove any rear freewheel or cassette you will need to purchase a Park Tool. Park Tool is the best brand when it comes to bike repair. Google Park Tool and you can look through their products. You will need a cassette/freewheel remover. There are dozens of different companies that make hubs and cassettes (gear sprocket). Take a look at yours and see what company made it. You can than find out which tool with properly fit your cassette. These tools are made to fit in a wrench making hand removal easy. Some brands will require a chain whip. The only way you will know which too you need is by find the company name on the cassette/hub. Without this tool removal is virtually impossible. If you need help narrowing down which cassette remover you need you can always let me know the company name and I will let you know the proper cassette tool to purchase.

Hi, Est2rad1961 nice novella but all you needed was the bold print up top and what you mean your spelling is bad you only made 78 spelling errors no big scare I cleaned it all up for you at no charge, for this scenario you will need your service/owners manual if you can't find the first and best tool you ever bought for your Kawasaki, despair not, for a mere zero $ you can download another one. Can i remove a 5 gear sprocket from 26" tire, and replace it with a 7 gear sprocket from a 20" tire? my roomates touring bike is currently a 15 speed, she loves the bike and does not want to replace it....

Several scenariosto consider here. First of all the compatibility with the hub. Second is the deraileur tarvel and the actual shifter. Components are normally matched in sets from factory and do not transfer over unless the entire set, shifter, deraileur and sprocket. Then there is the issue of chain wear fitting the crank and new hub together. Chains and gears seat into each other as they wear so a crank set should stay with the original hub as well, even if you were to install a new chain the wear pattern would be different.
So the short answer is unless the brands all match and are in new condition and the hubs are the same thread and diameter, you will not get good results

Front sprocket

Hi ........... One tooth less will give you more top speed (if you can pull top revs) but will reduce accelleration. If you go for one tooth less you'll need to tighten the chain and/or remove a link. It's a trade off ............ decide what you want the bike to do.

604 hubs& 644

just looking for wheels now. I can turn spacers if need be but if discs/sprockets don't match I'll be stuffed. The hubs and bearing sizes are the same but either could be made by AJP or Talon. Some handy things to know are ; 604 sprocket is no good for a 644 unless a 520 chain has been fitted. You will need to turn the rear tyre round if the wheell was on a 604 and its to go on a 644. Talon hubs use a different speedo drive to the AJP,,,
