Suspect a dirty fuel filter or other fuel line trouble.

SOURCE: starter motor turning, but engine doesn't!!

Sounds like you have a problem with the timing chain and the valve timing is out meaning a valve is down when the piston at the top causing an interference. Take the spark plugs out and with the bike in a high gear and on the center stand see if the engine will turn over by hand by pulling the back wheel. Don't force it or you will bend a valve and damage the piston though it probably has happened already. You would need to open the engine up and see what is happening with the timing chain, valve timing etc and go from there.

Testimonial: "Thanks, could not get past 2nd gear, did get to turn crank over, not sure yet if cams turning,I think the starter chain is u/s.engine strip here we come."

SOURCE: 84 FXST Starter Kicks out before engine fires

I'd be willing to bet that it's not "kicking out". The tale tell sign is that the starter keeps running. As long as the plunger in the solenoid is pulled inward, which moves the starter drive into engagement with the ring gear on the outer clutch drum, the start will run. If the starter drive were being "kicked out" the solenoid wouldn't still be engaged and the starter would not continue running.

I would come closer to thinking that your starter drive is bad, the bendix. These things are notorious for going bad, especially the cheap Chinese made aftermarket ones. I've replaced them with only a few weeks use on them. If you buy a new drive, get an Accel, made in the U.S.A.. Simply pull the starter drive out and clamp the shaft in a vice with aluminum jaws on it. The little nut on the end has left handed threads. When you put the nut back on, put some Red Loctite #271 on it. This ought to solve your problem. If you have anymore questions, drop me a line directly at [email protected] Good Luck!

SOURCE: italjet f 50 turns over tries to fire but wont

Well, it is either gas or spark, normally. Guarantee that there is spark at EACH plug. Try artificial enrichment with external fuel source...

Vauxhall Corsa turns over but won't start

How long does it take for your battery to go flat, if it's after a few turns and not firing most common problem is crankshaft sensor located at back of engine by starter motor easier to access from underside of car only one bolt holding in which is a torx but can get a hex socket on if not got torx and simple plug fit on sensor . Hope this helps

Engine wont turn over on my gv 2006

The 1st thing i need to do is clarify what you mean by "won't trun over" do you mean the starter motor spins the engine and it will not fire up or that the starter doesn't trun the engine over? If the starter doesn't turn the engine over do you hear a clicking coming from the starter solenoid when this happens? If so replace the starter solenoid the heavy electrical contacts are burned.

Truck has electrical power but won't turn over. I think I can hear the starter solenoid engaging. Not sure. where do I start trouble shooting?

Safety first!--Make sure you're in park & brake on-- Try shorting across the starter terminals with a screwdriver,if the bendix kicks in & nothing spins, remove the starter & put in bench vice ,(or hold down securely), & jump with cables.--REMEMBER POLARITY--If the starter spins you are in deep *******---something in the motor is probably locked up.(If the starter doesn't spin get a new one.)

Fuel pump not turning on. Won't fire but will turn over. swapped out relay, still not fire.

Try banging on the fuel tank, and then quickly try to start it, if it starts your fuel pump is almost dead and will need replaced soon.
If it doesn't start, test for power at the wiring connector on top of the fuel tank. This test requires 2 people, because the fuel pump is only powered for a few seconds when the engine isn't running. If you have power, then the problem is in the fuel pump (completely failed or bad wiring connection on the pump/inside the sending unit)

1993 gmc 1500 350cid - engine turns over but will not start. Fuel is good

Hello and welcome to FixYa!
If it's not turning over then the problem will be on the firing. If there's no current to the plugs, the engine won't fire up. Few things to look at to resolve the issue... First, the ignition coil can be faulty. Second, The ignition switch can be faulty. Third will be the starter. If it's faulty, it won't kick the flywheel. One good reason why it won't turn over.
Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!
