  • William Maddox Feb 02, 2021

My 2009 Harley is leaking oil under the bottom end I checked the drain plug and tighten it 3/25 of a turn. Has anyone has problems with oil leaks at plug? My bike has 23,000 mile

Just finished changing oil. There are 2 plugs (5/8 head) 1 on left horizonal is engine oil, 1 on right going up is transmission. After looking here I looked in owners manual(2008 flhx). Basically striaght in from rear edge of left footboard.

SOURCE: looking for the oil drain plug on my 2006 dyna street bob

you probly drained the primary case oil, which house the primary drive chain and clutch. The main oil is in the oil tank, there should be a drain bolt on the bottom of the tank

SOURCE: oil change 1999H D Electra glide

The plug ( 3/4 wrench ) under the trans when your looking at the trans cover ( right side of the bike ) is the trans. If you drained that replace it with 24 oz. of either HD trans fluid or I prefer Golden Spectro 75/140 ( much better shifting on a Harley ( trust me you'll never go back to HD trans fluid ) the drain for your motor oils is on the same pan ( on the bottom ) but it's the plug facing the front of the bike. Looks just like the trans plug. Both use a 11105 o ring which you should replace everytime ( just for piece of mind as well as leaks ) you need 4 quarts of 20/59 HD oil. Hope it helps.

Where is the transmission drain plug

I'm not really sure on this late of a model. The drain is on the bottom of the transmission and I think it's a pipe plug on the front of the transmission oil pan. The earlier models that I work on had a drain plug that looked exactly like the engine oil drain plug that was also on the bottom of the oil pan. Many a transmission has been drained thinking it was the engine oil drain. Go to this site and look at the picture of the transmission housing. http://www.bikebandit.com/2008-harley-davidson-touring-street-glide-flhx/o/m18635#sch624765 Pay particular attention to the oil pan gasket at the front of the pan. Notice the hole in the gasket directly above the socket head pipe plug, part #96. This looks like the transmission drain to me.

Where is the oil drain plug for the 2008 FLHX street glide

I'm not really familiar with the Street Glide but usually on the "Glide" models, the oil tank is on the bottom of the transmission. There are usually two drain plugs on the bottom of the pan. The drain closest to the left front corner is the engine oil drain. The one nearest the center is the transmission.

How to change tranny fluid on a 08 street glide

No offense, but you really need a service manual to learn which drain plug to remove to change the Trans fluid, there are three under there, two for oil and Transoil change the other is to be left alone. AFAIK, things change from model year to model year.

I want to change the oil and filter. Where is the

The oil pan on the Wide Glide is on the bottom of the transmission. There are two drains of the bottom of the oil pan. The drain in the center is the transmission drain plug. The drain at the left front corner is the engine oil drain. Drain the oil with the bike on the side stand. Refill with the three quarts of oil if you change the filter. Two quarts, 14 ounces if you don't change the filter. Start the engine and allow it to run for about two or three minutes. Check the oil level with the bike on the side stand. The dipstick has two marks one mark is "Full Cold", the other "Full Hot". Top the oil level off to the "Full Cold" mark.
