Temp gauge runs high, I see no leaks but coolant level goes down, when I start with radiator cap off water shoots out, when I start wit cap on water bubbles and shots out overflow. Heat works real good.
I suspect a crack in the head or block. The cooling system is suppose to be closed so any air has to be coming from somewhere - if the head gasket is good then the air is likely to be coming from a crack. A pressure test will confirm if your system is not air tight. That is if you are seeing bubbles in the radiator water if you just mean you are losing water through the overflow then it might just be the radiator cap needs replacing as it is not sealing the system when it gets hot.

check the temp. coolant senser sometimes they will leak mine did and drove me nuts.If not there could be a main gasket leak.

have you got a dimmer switch on your model to dim the dash lights. if you have it may be faulty. link the cables together if the lights work the switch is faulty. if you have not got a dimmer switch
your printed circuit on the back of the dash may be faulty or the plug in the back of the dash is not pushed all the way in. hope this helps

I have a 2001 PT and it overheats the rad fan will not turn on. I took it to auto zone to hook it up to the code reader and it said that BBECM has detected an open or shorted condition in the radiator fan relay circuit Probable cause open or shorted high speed radiator fan relay.
What dose this mean is it a relay or the computer. I have read alot about the pcm needing re-programed is this something the Chrysler deal should take care of it seem to be happening to alot of people.

It appears the tank system is(overflow) is is doing its job, but the cooling aystem is releasing too much and ytying to recover every bit ejen it cools down. Ck the radiator cap pressure rating. It shoul be between 12 and 4 lbs. Hane the old cap checkrd or just get a new one. If it's not the cap, The next thing is whether or not you have a pressurization of the cooling sysrem due to combustion leakage. This can also be tested for be a shop when the cap is tested, You can chk for that yourself by doing the following. Get a container filled with clear clean water. Submerge the overflow recovery hose end in the container. The end taht was in the recovery tank. Make sure your cooloing system/radiator is full and start your engine. Let everything stabilize. Watch your container for bubbles that contain smoke. Little snoky bubles and coolant being added to your container. If either is present you have a head gasket lea or a bad head pressurizing the cooling system.. And yes, you will end up with an overheated engine with a fever.
