It will lack lots of power going up hill, especially if its a really steep one and you keep it in drive. Make sure you downshift to second, or fist if its really steep.
Hey, maybe the engine is just too small for big hill's :) but u can try to chance air filter and fuel filter and overlook the spark plugs (when it's a petrol engine)
Your car most likely is suffering from ownerhatesme syndrome. This is most likely caused by: A)lack of a much needed oil change. B)lack of a much needed tune up. C)lack of transmission fluid. D)lack of a full systems check. And finally E)lack of love from the owner. For they are responsible for buying a ford when they know fords are known to break down and go bad over a short period of time.
And if you have done everything said above, the only problem could be a very dirty engine that struggles to get gas into the engine fast enough, or through corroded pipes. A full systems check is all you need to know the steps you need for your (F)ixed (O)r (R)epaired (D)aily to run smoothly again.
new spark plugs, plug wires, and cap and rotor should help hondas go through them a lot. my 87 and 96 civic went through them frequently. cleaning or replacing the air filter may help too ita basically a tune-up. Theres a fuel treatment sold at auto part stores and even walmart called seafoam its a red and white can on sale you can find it for about 7 bucks try that too. She is old and im sure giving you all she can they are are not known for their speed and power but they last forever if you treat them right.
i know the camp verde hill of which you speak , last vehicle in the shop with that same scenario , after doing everything possible including a catalyst check , as we could not duplicate the problem , we replaced fuel pump at owners request and next trip he confirmed it was a fix .
