Just started ny harley after it has been sitting in my garage for about three weeks. the tempertures here have been in the single digits. The bike did not start as easily as usual and refused to idle. I noticed a ticking sound coming from one of the cylinders. When I checked the oil it was much thicker than usual. I let the bike run for a few minutes hoping that it would thaw out, but it just missed and then quit. I wa thinking that I should put a heater on the engine and then replace the oil with new oil that is room temperatuer or even warmer to see if that works. What do you think and do you think that I could have damaged anything by letting it run for those couple of minutes?
U didnt hurt anything, make sure u're using multigrade motorcycle oil
What year model . older bikes first check screen in oil pump. check oil lines . depends on carb you may have to make some adjustments . i live in south were we have humidity no matter what the temp is . and some times have to make adjustments to prvent fouling . check bowl on carb for any trash . once you get it started if you still hear ticking you may need to check push rod adjustment .
