I have a 2004 625 SXC with the flat slide carb and need to set the float height. Can anyone help me with this?
The bike is difficult to start and backfires heavily when it does and I need to eliminate this problem with the float height before I carry on to other things like timing, etc.
Thanks

Back firing is normally an electrical problem. The carb is sometimes adjustable but needless to say, it doesn't go out of allignment on its own, so bear that in mind when trying to eliminate the carb. If it is choking when ticking over, check the idle jet setting.
Good luck.
Well it depends on if the bike wont start because of to much fuel from the little tab on the float being to bent down. or not enough fuel cause of the tab being bent up a little to much. just play around with it, dont be scared to get a little dirty, you'll never get stuck with anything by using common sense. and the backfiring could forsure be coming from out of whack valves, get your valves checked. and possibly go up one size on your pilot jet n you'll be all good. check all this and if still a problem go deeper into finding wat the problem is
