Broken key broken the key in the ignition switch

Take the complete broken key to a locksmith and they can make a good key from the broken one. They also maybe able to make a key from the ignition switch cylinder if you take it in.

Remove the switch , by following (old post) the FSM under steering
for Ignition switch removal.
this act , unlocks the lock.
one other way, is to destroy the cylinder, (ask a thief) and turn the guts
until it unlocks,

good luck buy a new switch jobber cheap and more theft proof

If a fine pick won't work you could try super-glue carefully applied between the broken halves, or if the key is ferrous (steel) try a neodymium magnet (which you can find in an old hard-drive).

SOUND LIKE IGNITION SWITCH KEYLOCK CYLINDER BROKEN. IN WHICH YOU CANT GET CAR OUT OF PARK.THE KEY LOCK CYLINDER BY TURNING THE KEY.IT MOVES A GEAR AND RACK ASSEMBLY THAT IN TURN MOVES THE IGNITION SWITCH ACTUATOR ROD AND PLUNGER TO VARIOUS POSITIONS REQUIRED FOR PERFORMING IGNITION SWITCH FUNCTIONS. IF KEYLOCK BROKEN YOU WONT BEABLE TO TURN IGNITION KEY OR GET CAR OUT OF PARK.

Hi Once the cowling around the ignition is removed, turn ignition switch to the first position (because the key is in the switch you should be able to rotate to the first position)
On the top side of the ignition barrel there is a spring loaded pin ( this pin is difficult to see and get at)
When you have located this pin press it in ( use the cranked end of an alen key )
While its pressed in pull out the ignition barrel with the broken key in it
when you have the barrel in your hand you will be able to get broken key out.

It sounds as if the rod or ignition key gear may be broken. The ignition switch is actually on top of the steering colume under the dash. The key turns a gear that is connected to a rod. The rod travels down to the actual electrical ignition switch. If you are not feeling any tension at all when you turn the key, either the rod or gear has broken. In either case the steering wheel all the way down to the key tumblers will need to taken apart. Hope this helps.

TRY ANOTHER KEY. COULD HAVE WRONG KEY .IF KEY STILL WONT GO INTO IGNITION SWITCH.SOUND LIKE KEYLOCK CYLINDER IS BROKEN OR ANOTHER KEY BROKEN OFF IN SWITCH KEEPING YOU FROM PUTTING ANOTHER KEY IN SWITCH.

Either your tumblers in the lock are dirty or broken or your key does not fit the lock. If you have an original key it has a key number on it. The bottom of the ignition switch should have the same number on it (A12345,Bxxxxx,Cxxxxx,Dxxxxx,or Exxxxx). If the numbers are different you need to get the other key made at the dealer or locksmith. If the switch is broken you will probably need to buy a new switch.

You may not need a new ignition. Take the bike to a locksmith where they should have a broken key extractor tool, and then have them cut a new key from the broken piece of the key. It should not be too difficult for them.
